Mas Fonoll — Restaurant in Caldes de Montbui

Spending a wellness weekend at a resort in Caldes de Montbui, a short drive north west from Barcelona we came across this amazing restaurant located at the end of a 2km dirt track close to the village of Sant Feliu de Codines. It's only open 2 days a week (Saturday & Sunday) for lunch and considering the crowd which filled the venue just after 1pm a reservation is highly recommended. Welcome was friendly and we were seated immediately at a table in one of the cozy rooms of the restaurants with views over the surrounding "mountains". From the all Catalan menu (we were informed all ingredients were BIO and where possible from own production...so really farm to table!) we selected to start with Xampinyos (kind of braised paris style mushrooms), followed by Carn d'Olla ( a kind of slow cooked meat and vegetables dish ) and Pollastre amb all i julivert ( wood fire grilled chicken leg ), and we finished off with a Crema Catalana and Tiramisu (in fact the only non Catalan dish on the menu). Our experience at Mas Fonoll was truly outstanding. Servicio muy, pero que muy malo. Nunca he escrito una reseña, ni buena ni mala, pero el tipo de servicio mas el trato lamentable del dueño me he sentido obligado a escribir esta reseña. Para empezar viene el dueño a tomarnos nota, con impaciencia y mal estar, cara de agobio muy mala energía. Entiendo que éramos una mesa de 13 personas, lo entiendo, puedo dejar pasar ese detalle, ok. Después de pedir llegan los platos... Todos sin la guarnición... Solo 1 plato pequeño de judías... Ok, lo comentamos al camarero, no pasa nada... Ah, por cierto, pedí entrecot poco hecho, me lo entregan calcinado, pero ok. Nos acabamos los segundos pero la guarnición nunca llegó a la mesa, solo 2 platos pequeños de patatas fritas y el platito de judias mencionado para 13 personas cuando ya nos habíamos comido todo. De repente a mi cuñada se le rompe la silla y se cae al suelo y nadie del servicio se inmuta ni cambian la silla, ok cosas que pasan... Cada vez viene un camarero distinto a la mesa, se nota desorganización... Al final decido quejarme, sobre todo por el tema de la guarnición... Los platos no son baratos la verdad... Imagínate si esta el plato a medias lo que duele pagarlo... Les digo que, dado el servicio y que no nos han puesto la guarnición de cada plato, debería verse reflejado en la cuenta un descuento o lo que sea, el camarero me dice que las patatas fritas son gratis... En fin, ni siquiera una disculpa... Tardan un montón en traernos la cuenta, nos la traen (sin ningún descuento o mínimo detalle) y nos dicen que tenemos que pagar a la salida. A la salida esta el dueño mal rollero cobrando, pedimos que nos cobre por separado, se niega, en este punto le advertimos que tenia 2 opciones, o nos cobraba por separado o nos íbamos sin pagar, obviamente acaba cobrando por separado... Esta persona se pone a hacer la cuenta de la abuela con libreta y boli y nos dice que faltan 100€... Le ponemos la calculadora del mvl en la cara sumando todos los tickets cobrados, con el resultado correcto y aún asi se encabezona otra vez haciendo la cuenta con libreta y boli intentando convencernos de que estaba mal y faltaba alguien por pagar... O sea, después de todo el trato, nos trata como ladrones... Al final le salen bien las sumas y no pide ni siquiera disculpas por el momento incomodo. En fin, no cuesta nada quedar bien con un cliente creo yo, pero en Mas Fonoll el buen trato brilla por su ausencia. No lo recomiendo en absoluto, mala gente.
