The service was awesome. The ambiance was amazing. The loos were clean. A reservation could help though they accomodated two of us without a reservation.
The food... The peas cream soup had a distinct taste that may have to be acquired. The 3 meat starter was awesome. Tasted yum. The steak pieces with brie cheese were quite yum too though I didn't enjoy the taste of brie. The cheese cake with peach jam was not to our liking. The popets on mashed potatoes was a dish we couldn't handle eating. The combination was not right and the octopus was cooked to a softness I didn't like. Perhaps that's an acquired taste too, not sure. The gelato finally drowned out the taste of that last dish.

32 Euros. After finishing one of the best meals ive had in a while i couldnt believe that it cost so little in a day and age where restaurants will try to separate you from your money by giving you garbage.
La Volta del Rector stands above the rest. The huevos estrellados and the parmesan canelone were probably the best ive ever had, and ive been living in spain for 30 years.
The ribs were succulent, tender and fell right off the bone. Perfectly seasoned as well.
The owner greeted everyone and explained the dishes so you knew exactly what you were ordering. The wait staff was quick, attentive and professional always with a smile.
If you are near Cardona, go out of your way to eat here. But make a reservation or you might not...

Un Una experiència molt decebedora.
Després de visitar la muntanya de sal, vam anar a aquest restaurant 5 adults i 3 nens (de 6 mesos, 4 i 5 anys). Vam demanar 5 menús, dos dels quals amb entrecot (amb suplement de 10 €). Ens van dir que cada entrecot pesava uns 400-500g. En veure això, vam decidir cancel·lar-ne un i compartir, ja que era massa menjar. Quan vam demanar plats extra per als nens, ens van dir que no es podia compartir, tal com s’indica a la carta.
Vam acceptar afegir un menú més, però ens van tornar a dir que no es podia compartir perquè “cada persona ha de demanar un menú”. Això ens va semblar consum obligat, ja que fins i tot amb entrecots tan grans no ens permetien compartir.
Va sortir una senyora (la cuinera o propietària) dient: “Soc la cuinera, qui parla aquí?” amb un to molt poc amable. Va dir que érem 8 persones i que havíem de demanar 8 menús, perquè ells també tenen despeses (plats, aigua, pa…). Vam respondre que mai havíem vist una norma així en cap altre restaurant. Ella va replicar: “No preteneu venir 8 persones i demanar només dos menús, oi?”
Finalment, ens volien cobrar 5 menús + 3 menús infantils, tot i que només havíem demanat 5 menús en total. Vam dir que només pagaríem 5 menús o marxaríem. Finalment van acceptar.
A més, ens van voler cobrar 15 € de suplement per entrecot, quan ens havien dit que eren 10 €. Però després de revisar el tiquet, el cambrer (que almenys va ser correcte) ens va tornar els 10 € de més.
L’experiència va ser molt negativa. Entenem que cada restaurant pot tenir normes, però cal tenir flexibilitat i respecte cap al client. Compartir un plat, especialment quan hi ha nens petits i racions grans, no hauria de ser motiu de conflicte.
Esperem que reconsiderin aquesta política de consum obligatori. El client hauria de tenir llibertat de decisió.
No recomano aquest lloc per a famílies amb nens ni per a grups que...
