Lumbre Restaurante — Restaurant in Casalarreina

If I could give this a 6 star, I would. Recently renovated and renamed “Lumbre”.

My wife and I spent 10 days in Spain for a driving and culinary tour, and we must say this was the best dining experience we had. Dishes were exquisite, the service top-notch, the atmosphere intimate and very comfortable.

And this was after a day we had dinner at Kotkotxa, a 1-star Michelin at San Sebastián. Dining at Lumbre made Kotkotxa seem “normal”.

We had the Sardine Lasagne as starters, which was nothing like a traditional lasagne. The flavors were outstanding. Next, the Hake and Lamb Chops - ten thumbs up. Cooked perfectly so the meats are tender.

And then the Torijja (Spanish traditional dessert) and the Canutillos (filled pastry with chocolate) were marvelous.

An amazing experience at an amazing place. Top notch modern take on Spanish and above all Riojan cuisine. If you are looking for something a little bit special or want to experience and find out about local dishes this is the place. Rioja flavours throughout the menu. Hoy es el segundo día que funciona con su nuevo nombre, Lumbre, así que lo hemos conocido con la remodelación recién acabada. No sé cómo era antes, pero ahora está espectacular; incluso los servicios llaman la atención...una pasada. Además de los salones, tiene un "calao" precioso en el sótano, ideal para tomar unos vinos o hacer una cata. Por otra parte, respecto a la comida, extraordinaria. Además, ofrecen tres tipos de menú degustación. Hemos cenado el más básico y hemos terminado ahítos y muy satisfechos con la calidad. Además, el trato es excelente y nos han puesto un aperitivo riquísimo mientras venía el primero y varias atenciones más fuera de carta y de cuenta. El postre, una especie de sorbete de limón que sabe como huele la higuera, aunque arriesgado con el ácido del limón, una maravilla...pero que muy especial. Y el servicio, superatento a todo y la cocina, muy bien organizada, encadenando el servicio de todos los platos, postres y café, sin demoras. Desde luego, una suerte para Casalarreina contar con un sitio tan...
