We only stayed one night at this hotel but had the pleasure to both enjoy dinner and breakfast here too. The hotel is an old roadsite hotel that has been lovingly restored. ||The first thing we noticed when entering was a very specific smell. It was March and chilly outside so the fireplace was on. This spreaded a wonderfull smell all around the hotel. ||The rooms we had were basic, but very nice and clean. Everything you needed was there. They had been so considerate to put the heating on before our arrival. So we arrived to a nice, cozy and comfy room. Wifi was working ok.||We sat down next to the fireplace and had dinner and it was without a doubt very yummy. ||||The personnel is very friendly. Cristobal even showed us around the place, showing us the old kitchen, old toilet, inner courtyard, etc. Very attentive.||||Our breakfast in the morning was very Spanish. We had serrano ham, some sort of cooked meat and toast spreaded with tomatoes. An unusual breakfast for us northern europeans but nonetheless an experience and very yummy.||||Price-quality was very good. Funnily enough we were the only guests in the entire hotel. Maybe the lack of a pool and a sun bathing area has something to do with that. But for winter it's not an issue. We will for sure return...
Read moreWe stayed for 2 nights in the hotel on our way to Caminito del Rey. The location is perfect, close to El Chorro and just off the road so there's no problems with finding the hotel & it's quiet. The staff was very nice however the food was truly terrible. The buffet breakfast was: 2 plates of cold cuts: jamon & meat. Literally 10 pieces each (dry, dark and not fresh), 4 cheap yoghurts. No juice, no cheese, no fruit, no veggie, no water, no pastries, no bread, no nothing... We were so surprised that the lovely waiter offered us cheese and tomato toast, that we gladly took. Next say the same problem, the difference was that they added couple of apples however the cheese toast was not an option anymore as they have run out of cheese. Dinner: we asked for rice with veggies and they used the frozen veggie mix (carrot, peas). OMG! And the de-frozen bread bun. AS the hotel is some time away from the villages the food problem really becomes an issue. The toilet: there must be a problem with the plumbing system as there was constantly an unpleasant smell. We didn't dare to switch on the "hot tub bath" as the system and the...
