I deeply enjoyed my two nights at Posada Real de los Carreteros. I am a lady in her mid 60’s travelling around Spain by bike, and I could not have found a better place for 2 restful days. I was quite drenched and cold from riding my last 4 km in icy rain, and, on arrival, received a warm welcome from Sara & David - they instinctively gave me a cup of warm coffee and invited me to sit in the salon in front of the log fire. The place is delightful, decorated with great taste, with old wares and black and white photos of local family and community events. There is great attention paid to details. My room was spacious with a comfortable bed with extra cushions and an armchair. There was a small, but well-equipped bathroom providing particularly nice hot showers with great water pressure. I am particularly thankful to Marcos for taking excellent care of me at breakfast time in the beautiful restaurant room, setting up my table in front of the log fire. I am devastated to see some harsh criticism of this place in a couple of Google reviews. It certainly hasn’t been part of my experience. I was alone in the Posada at night, with my expensive bike tucked away in a downstairs corner. At no time did I feel that the place was unsafe. My door was solid and with a good lock, besides, there are many security cameras around the place, and the owners live next door. Casarejos is a peaceful village with a mountain feel. I warmly recommend La Posada Real de los Carreteros for a stay whether you are a tired cyclist, a family in search of an authentic old-day feel or a couple seeking a...

The building was totally refurbished 20 years ago to modern accommodation standards and the rooms are simple but comfortable. Evening dinners are included (there are no other restaurants nearby other than one small bar) and the meals are all excellently home made, using local produce and a refreshing variety of courses - making a pleasing change from the often standard fare in many Spanish hotels. The location is ideal for visiting the close-by natural gorge area known as the 'Canon del Rio Lobos', with it's varied wildlife and fauna, viewable from a number of fairly spectacular walks - easily reached on foot or by...
