I booked this restaurant at the last minute for my 70th jubilee birthday party. There were 8 of us including my 3 year old Granddaughter. What a lovely gem we found. The head waiter Alfred attended to us in a very attentive(describing all the dishes on the menu), friendly and professional manner. My wife and I were very pleased and impressed. The food was excellent and prepared to perfection and everyone's taste.The duck that I had was very tasty and the sea bass my wife had which was the fish of the day , was delicious and according to her, the best she had ever tasted. Everyone without exception enjoyed their meal.The prices were very reasonable considering the standard was set high. During the meal , Alfred as he knew it was a special birthday celebration, offered us a complimentary glass of Cava to finish and I had a candlelit dessert fantastic!. Surprising. We were looking for new places to go and ended up with giving the essencia a shot. The interior is clean and invitingly modern. We felt very comfortable. The service was very polite, perceptive, multilingual (english, french, spanish) and always good for a joke. Ahh... the food. Where to start.... We have long looked for a place that breaks away from the standard French / Spanish cuisine and dares to twist it to something new. Anyone who cares about eating out should come to Essencia in Empuriabrava. We have been strong supporters of the offerings here since before COVID. That brought about a management and chef change and we were initially wondering whether the former high standards could be maintained. Happily, the formula didn't change very much and we continue to eat at Essencia as often as we can. Please, do yourselves a favour, go the few extra metres to eat at a price/quality level that is outstanding.
