Les Barques Restaurant PDA — Restaurant in Castell d'Aro, Platja d'Aro i s'Agaró

We booked this restaurant for a large group of 28 (17 adults, 11 kids) at fairly short notice, and to their credit, they were able to accommodate us with a great spot outside in the lively atmosphere. The service started off very well, and we appreciated their effort to host such a big group.

However, as the evening went on it became clear they weren’t fully prepared or staffed to manage a party of this size. A few of us arrived slightly staggered (within about 15 minutes), but drinks were mixed up, food was served at very different times, and the biggest issue was with the vegan meals. Despite confirming several times in advance that vegan options would be provided, a chicken paella was served to the vegan couple, while the intended vegetarian paella for another table even contained a piece of chicken. The response we were given…“this sometimes happens, and we can’t help it”…was very disappointing, leaving our friends without food while everyone else ate.

While I understand catering for such a large group is a challenge, the planning and handling of dietary requirements fell well short of what we were assured. Without this major issue, it could have been a much more positive experience, but unfortunately I can’t give a high rating on...

This was already our fifth time visiting Platja d’Aro as a family, and unfortunately, this was our first and last visit to this restaurant.

We were shocked by the high bill, especially considering what we received in return. We ordered a seafood paella for around €40, supposedly meant for two people. However, the portion was so small and the pan so shallow that it barely filled one person. On top of that, the paella was partly burnt and lacked a proper amount of seafood — certainly not what we expected from a “seafood” dish.

Sadly, it felt like a rip-off — something we’ve never experienced in any other restaurant in Platja d’Aro.

Credit, however, goes to the waiter, who was friendly and made a real effort. He clearly wasn’t to blame for the poor value or pricing decisions made...

Ayer noche, tuve la suerte de entrar en un lugar fascinante. El propietario de este nido encantado es un tal Luis, ¡y déjame decirte que nos acogió de maravilla! 😊 Desde el principio, su calidez y hospitalidad nos hicieron sentir como en casa. Su entusiasmo y generosidad estaban por todas partes, lo que añadió una chispa de felicidad a nuestra visita.

Ahora, permíteme hablarte de lo que más nos impresionó: ¡la comida era absolutamente espectacular! 🍽️ Los sabores explotaban en nuestras bocas y cada plato estaba preparado con tanto cuidado, que no sólo alimentaba nuestros estómagos, también nuestras almas. ¡Podía sentir la pasión de este lugar en cada bocado que tomaba!

No podía dejar de pensar en lo encantador que sería compartir esta experiencia. Estoy seguro de que os encantará Luis y su maravillosa cocina tanto como a nosotros.
