Just had a great Lunch here. Its a little off the beaten track and at the moment they have no Wifi (though that is being changed this week) but its well worth making the effort to visit.
Its nothing fancy to look at though its right on the water, with a small terrace where you can order drinks through the side window. Theres plenty of parking at the front. There's a really pleasant bar area with a massive LP collection and a record player, so you can pick your own music and play it, crackles and all. We put on some Jazz by Sonny Stitt (who I'd never heard of before) and we all danced around the restaurant like looneys.
There is no beach its black lava rock but its rugged and has a Cornish feel.
The Village itself is a conundrum, it has beautiful detached houses but everything looks (at least this time of year) deserted, but it has a charm.
We arrived hoping the Restaurant would be open as it had been recommended by a friend and it was.
There was no menu but the owner (in broken English) explained there were meat and fish options .
We chose:
Chicken (delicious 1/4 chicken stuffed with Bacon, Sausage and apricots) served with chips @ €8.16.
Pigs Cheeks with wild Mushrooms. €8.
Dorado, which is like Bream at €8
We also had a salad for 4 people which was as crisp and fresh as it could get for €6.
Plus bread and two bowls of delicious Olives.
For drinks we had 4 bottles of Sin alcohol (alcohol free) Beer @ €2.5 each plus a very good bottle of Rose Wine €8.
I also had a Coffee as I was driving
The house gave us free non alcoholic drinks plus an option of a glass of Anis with Herbs that was absolutely stunning.
Our total bill was €54.70 for 4 people which cant be bad.
This is exactly the sort of out of the way Gem we are always searching for. It has good food, a nice atmosphere and the staff were helpful and very friendly.
What more could you want?
Definitely give...
