Had a bit of a bad journey to El Borje which I won't go into, but finally finding the hotel was a relief and I really hoped it was going to be ok.|From the second we walked in my worries were over and I had a smile on my face. |It is like walking into a quaint little museum, the age and the history of the place just ooze from every wall and nook and cranny, but it's also clean and just generally lovely.|The young lady who was looking after the reception, bar and restaurant when we arrived was a delight too. She was friendly and welcoming and could not have been more helpful. She had limited English, and I have limited Spanish but she was patient and really pleasant.|The room we got was also amazing in its way. No glass in the windows, just traditional wooden shutters, and all the bathroom fittings looked ancient, but it all fitted in perfectly with the feeling of the place.|We had lunch, evening meal and breakfast in the hotel and all the meals were good, freshly made, reasonably priced and served in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. The evening v was particularly good as there were a few locals around who were all friendly and chatty.|This is certainly a quirky place and might not be everyone's cup of tea but myself and my wife...

Read moreThis is the sort of place I crave!||||The inn is a small bar/restaurant in the centre of El Borge. El Borge is a tiny mountainside hamlet of thin winding streets, if you don't enter on the correct road it's really difficult to find. It's about an hours dive from Malaga airport and 30 mins drive to Torre de Mar. ||||The staff speak little English but are happy to try, and teach me Spanish... it's all part of the charm. ||||Parking was available outside, I visited out of season I'm not sure what it would be like at busier times. ||||Wifi was acceptable, but only accessible from the bar area, not the room. Even 3G struggled in the room. ||||The staff made me feel welcomed and the food was amazing! Upon arrival they cooked up a dish not on the menu just based on what I said I fancied. Beer was lovely and refreshing. ||||The room was cosy, AC was needed to heat it at night and some windows were just wooden shutters. The room was a generous size and have a large balcony with table and chairs.||||The bathroom included toiletries and the hot water was boiling and a good pressure. ||||All in all I can't wait to re-visit on holiday instead...
