Sant Jeroni was a great highlight of our experience in the lovely El Bruc. The staff were all cool and very nice. The food we got was great. We came on two different occasions, once for lunch and dinner, as it was often one of the few places if not the only place that was open when we were here in January. For lunch they were doing a 20 euro 3 course menu - I had roasted chicken and pasta and the portions and tastes were phenomenal for the price. The chicken was super juicy and well seasoned and fall-off-the-bone. When we came back for dinner I had a roasted lamb chop dish with toasted rosemary and fries again and it was also super tasty. Dinner was slightly more costly than lunch but we felt like it was still a great value and experience. We were looking for authentic Catalan food, what great experience it’s a small restaurant but the outdoor has the beautiful view of Monserrat mountain . We have the menu of the day, my husband got garbanzo salad w ground meat burgueses with caramelizad onions and a Natilla. I got the pesto pasta with pork feet w pine nuts and the flan . Vam arribar al Sant Jeroni, al Bruc, sense saber exactament què ens esperava. Però només creuar la porta, vam tenir la certesa que viuríem una experiència que no oblidaríem mai.
Vam decidir submergir-nos en l’univers dels plats especials i vam començar amb unes flors de carxofa amb pernil de gla. Més d’una vegada he regalat flors a la meva parella, però mai l’havia vist gaudir tant com amb aquestes.
A la taula del costat, una parella degustava un entrecot de dimensions messiàniques, fent-nos salivar com el gos de Pavlov. Va ser aleshores quan vaig entendre que aquell entrecot havia de ser el centre del meu sopar. La meva companya, en canvi, es va decantar per l’ànec confitat, i en el moment en què va tastar el primer tall, va començar a plorar d’emoció. La carn es desfeia a la boca, desplegant un sabor difícil d’oblidar. Feia molt de temps que no la veia tan feliç.
Per tancar el sopar, vam escollir el pastís de pastanaga, una temptació més dins d’una carta de postres tan variada com original. Tot plegat, acompanyat per dues estrelles i una conversa agradable que va fer brillar encara més la vetllada.
L’atenció? Un deu. El preu? Es pot posar preu a la felicitat?
