Wonderful experience at the wine cathedral, and I recommend the audio tour also. Super interesting to hear about the history of the area and how they used to make wine as a cooperative.
Along with the tour, I recommend booking a tasting as well. We did a tasting of the wine before the tour, and ended with a delicious lunch at their restaurant.
I am a pescetarian, so was cautious about how easy it would be to find good restaurants to eat in. The kitchen and wait staff at the restaurant are friendly, helpful, and really appreciate their food as well.
They were more than happy to accommodate, bringing us a brand new, off-menu tapas to share. The three-course menu is very well priced especially considering its quality.
The ambience in the restaurant is relaxed while still being a little fancy. You are eating in the actual wine cathedral itself, so there is history all around you. Really nice experience.
Save room for the dessert cart as well, you will not regret it!
Call the cathedral beforehand if you have any questions about the tour and the experience. I spoke to Núria who was super helpful and kind, and suggested the structure of our day.
If you speak Spanish or Catalan, you'll get more information during your wine tasting. Really nice experience, beautiful building, and very friendly...
Read moreSome of the food in the menu was really good (half done egg thing and roasted duck) BUT overall this place was a disappointment:
-I assumed the restaurant would be really pretty since it’s inside a historic building, BUT no… you are sit in a very noisy open room that even with little number of people being serviced you hear plates and cutlery being thrown at the kitchen all the time. Half of the restaurant has the kind of stackable chairs you will find at a conference in a hotel.
Waiters were all really young ladies, probably underpaid.
The menu includes wine, BUT even if you ask… you won’t get a bottle or get a glass after being seated, you must ask for every single glass to the waiters which they never come to your table or pay little attention to your signals.
Last but not least, the menu price €32+ is not up to some of the yummy food specially considering the soulless setting and the fact that the region is very rural and...
Read moreWe visited this place as a group of four for €35, but only two of us were allowed to enter the museum. The museum itself is nice, but nothing special — you can see everything in about 10–15 minutes. After the museum, we were supposed to receive six glasses of wine (since we paid €15 for 2 glasses and €20 for 4 glasses). Instead, they just poured different wines into the same glass, which completely ruined the taste and aroma. The wine itself was not very good either, and serving different wines in the same glass is simply unacceptable. Two of us don’t drink wine anyway, but it was still disappointing. You can see in the photo what we actually got.
There were also 4 or 5 other groups, but once they heard the price, they left. I visited this place about a year ago, and back then it was good value for the price. Unfortunately, now it’s more expensive, the wine is worse, and overall it’s not...
