Restaurant de Canet — Restaurant in Esporles

Quiet it is NOT. Located on a roundabout some 5 Kms before the pretty village of Esporles, Canet serves typical Mallorquín country food, spoilt however by accompanying main meat dishes with soggy, grey tinned vegetables. Fearing this might be the case, we had ordered a plate of roast vegetables as well, which were cooked over charcoal and were delicious.

The restaurant is in a huge barn of a place serving some 150 covers at a time and the noise level rendered conversation impossible. We know that Sunday lunch is the most popular time for local Mallorquins to eat out en famille, but since the restaurant describes itself as "cosy and quiet" we were somewhat surprised at the number of customers and the volume of noise. Perhaps because of this it was difficult to attract the attention of a waitress, but our food when it arrived was good and plentiful. The house tinto was also surprisingly palatable, and we were invited to a "chupito" to round off our lunch as well.

Not a place we are likely to revisit, but clearly very popular with locals, and for typical Mallorquin country food, then this is not a bad bet, but don't go on Sunday if you want...

Ein klare Empfehlung! Sehr viele Einheimische lassen es sich hier gut gehen. Sehr netter Service und absolut zuvorkommend. Das ist das Spanien, wie man es kennt. Preislich auch absolut in Ordnung. Und jetzt fehlt nur noch Geschmack und Ambiente. Geschmacklich ein absoluter Spanischer Traum, heißt es ist sehr sehr lecker. Egal ob drinnen oder draußen sitzen..... Beides ein Highlight. Euch erwartet ein tolles Restaurant.

A clear recommendation! A lot of locals have a good time here. Very nice service and absolutely accommodating. This is Spain as we know it. The price is also absolutely fine. Acabamos de salir de allí y ha sido bochornoso. Después de un trato amable, quizás demasiado por parte del propietario abusando de sus gracietas, la experiencia se ha ido al traste por el trato recibido a la hora de irnos. Mi madre, mi hijo, y yo, nos hemos levantado de la mesa mientras mi padre se dirigía a la barra a pagar, no se han percatado de ello y enseguida "el gracietas" ha mandado un camarero a pararnos el paso, se ha puesto delante de mí arrollandonos con preguntas estúpidas y en tono sarcástico mientras nos cortaba el paso:¿Dónde van ahora, a la playa?! Al darme cuenta de lo que estaba sucediendo le he dicho que mi padre estaba en la barra pagando, dos veces se lo he dicho, mientras seguía sin dejarnos salir, hasta que finalmente lo han visto. Menos mal que mi padre no se ha dado cuenta de nada, porque encima les ha dejado propina, se lo hemos contado todo en el coche. Ha sido bochornoso y de muy mal gusto. Y ni siquiera se han disculpado, sólo les preocupaba que una pareja de jubilados, con su hija, y su nieto de 10 años, no se escaparan corriendo de allí sin pagar. Por el amor de Dios, no hubiéramos ni llegado al coche!!!! Vivimos en Palmanyola, por lo que es un restaurante que tenemos cerca, mis padres habían ido un par de veces, pero ahora no volveremos nunca más. Por cierto, la comida no es nada del otro mundo, y la limpieza deja mucho que desear. Basta que te fijes en los botellones de vidrio que hay encima de la...
