La Taberna de Joaquín — Restaurant in Fuente de Piedra

You need a reservation even in the night because this restaurante is highly frequented. The view down the market place is romantic with its lights in the night. Read the menu card carefully and ask if you were in doubt. We had wonderful four hours with eating, chatting and drinking. I like the beer very much, Alhambra on tap is just delicious. But later with the fish went the white secco wine very well and later with the meat the red wine fit great. What a delicious journey. Meals...everything is of high quality an a shout woul be enough to replate in case something were not ok. We started, well, we love verduras in all forms and dressings...what a feast! For me tomate aliñado con atun was the highlight. And then pulpo a la brasa well done with a variation of grilled mixed verduras. I loved it. For the final along with a bottle of red wine we went with entrecote. But all other meats would have been as good! Let me point out the special owner of the restaurant, not only greeting you when you step in but also check frequently your well being and always placing a joke to comfort you. This man lives his restaurant at its best!

From start to finish, everything was perfect. The food was outstanding — we had a fresh salad with juicy tomato, creamy avocado, and premium ventresca de atún that just melted in the mouth. The pluma ibérica was cooked to perfection, and the grilled octopus (pulpo a la brasa) was among the best we've ever had.

For dessert, we tried the leche frita con anís — crispy on the outside, soft and fragrant inside. Simply amazing.

Joaquín himself made the afternoon even more special with his great service and constant jokes that kept the whole table laughing.

Joaquin is a character, he could play very well in a movie!

He is taking care of everyone, guests, his staff, in such a professional way. The food is fantastic and you must try it!

We really appreciated that he was suggesting to reduce some portions as it could be too much food and he was so right! Usually restaurants want to sell and won’t care if food is thrown away, but not Joaquin!

And again, food is great, so tasty and generous! And prices are fair. So do not hesitate to give it a try and most probably you will leave with the desire to come back if will happen to be passing by his place. So do we!
