I give the food a 4 because I’m not vegetarian and there is no typical Canarian food… and I think that’s not OK for the reasons I will expose. This is a vegetarian place, run by two very nice hosts who put quality and ethical reasons at the forefront of their offer. Which I find very respectable because it’s a courageous proposition. But as a tourist in La Palma I was really hoping that, in addition to the option of vegetarian pizza they would offer me a local present. So I felt disappointed that I was sort of ‘forced’ to order a pizza with smoked tofu (I am not a tofu person). But again, the dough is excellent, the quality of ingredients too and there’s imagination. So as an option out of the typical Canarian food the place is great. My advice: why don’t you offer traditional Canarian vegetarian options? Cheese and mojo, wheat stew or some sort of escaldon or potaje?
Summarising: if you are looking for Canarian experience, this is not the place, but if you want to stay away from meat/fish for one day this is an excellent option.
Someone said the service was bad and slow. Not our experience at all, both hosts were super friendly and professional and dishes came quite early. I wish...
Read moreWe LOVED this place. If you go the the Roque de los Muchachos, then you must stop here too! It’s a tad down the road in the opposite direction from Santa Cruz, take a right when LP 4 meets LP 1 and then you’ll see the restaurant on your right.
As we drove by we saw the locals sitting outside and knew it had to be good. As it turned out, El Bailadero was of our favorites for sure. We loved the owner, Helena (if our memory serves us right). We had the best goat meal of the islands here.
Later we reviewed our notes and realized we also heard about this restaurant from the staff at one of the information centers. They said it is their favorite of this entire part of the island and a must visit place.
We also tried all three of her desserts. They were light and enjoyable. Two of them reminded me of ice cream although they were not cold at all. Very strange...
