We came here last Sunday for lunch with a group of 15 people. Initially we were in the tavern downstairs and there was also confusion concerning the time of reservation. We thought 13h but it turned out to be 13h30, where the fault was entirely ours. However, by 13h15 we were allowed in without any problems. We were seated upstairs in a larger room at a huge table. It was somewhat reminiscent of a wedding party. So at first the atmosphere was a bit strange. However, the service was tremendously obliging and almost perfect. We were listened to and we were all allowed to choose a la carte. In Belgium, it often happens that with such a company, you can only choose a limited number of different dishes. We all took fish and it was perfectly prepared from the first to the last person. I have rarely eaten such delicious tuna in my life! After three days I was tired of gazpacho, but this restaurant's version with mint and strawberry tasted excellent! We were served bread several times and were always allowed to choose from several varieties. We also liked the wine so much that some of us scanned the bottle to purchase it ourselves later. At dessert, someone in our party requested Irish coffee and although this seemed an unfamiliar concept to the service, it was agreed to. The Irish coffee seemed to be 50 percent coffee and 50 percent whiskey, but tasted no less (and it made us laugh). For me the best meal of my stay in and around Bilbao, despite the atmosphere of the room haha. My recommendation? Come by rental bike from Bilbao along the Viscaya bridge, or take the metro from Bilbao to the bridge (Areeta stop) and walk another 40 minutes along the water to this restaurant, because you...

Worst meal in 5 trips to Spain. We had a 9p reservation. The appetizer fish was not fresh. The peppers on side were burnt. I at less than 1/2 the dish. No questions asked on how it was.

The entree fish (turbot) was even worse - inedible. It is the only meal we had in a week in Basque that was not great - and it was truly awful. The best part of meal was the bottle of wine.

They brought each course before we were done with next. 3 courses were served in less than an hour - unheard of in Spain. We left before 10:15p.

The service from the front was also odd. He seemed to hesitate to seat us initially. He asked if we were done when he saw me push the fish away but did not ask if it was ok - seeing only one bite eaten. Llevamos a gente que vino de visita y no quedamos muy bien y todo el tema está relacionado con el camarero que nos atendió. Primero trajo una carta de la comida y otra de vinos y y bueno pues con una una de cada para los cuatro al de un rato aparece otro camarero que les hace falta la la carta y se la llevan, se pasa el tiempo y vuelve a venir el primer camarero y y oye si no tenéis la carta no van a venir a atenderos y le comentamos que la carta se la había llevado otro camarero y bueno total que al final nos atendieron. Luego ya con la comida pues los platos no estaban calientes como deberían y bueno eso es fácil de corregir. En mi caso pedí una comida que me gusta picante, también estaba templada, pido Tabasco me traen el final de la botella, me echo un poco y aparece otra vez otro camarero y ne dice oye échate si quieres que es que me hace falta m, con estas palabras y con esta forma de dirigirse a un cliente que no me parece lo más correcto porque creo que es decir oye perdona lo vas a seguir utilizando o te lo dejamos y traerme un bote de Tabasco medio acabado y todavía con exigencias. Vienen y nos sirven el pan pues nos dieron a elegir de varias clases . Tuvimos que poder volver a pedir pan porque eran cachitos muy pequeños y dice no tengo más que de este integral para todos, para todos menos para uno de los cuatro, que es que no tenía más y entonces luego acabo de un rato volvío a parecer con una cesta de pan para repartir por mesas y entonces ya le tocó a la otra persona el pan. Y bueno como es un montón de historias así todas que contadas 1 × 1 pues hay que juntarlos y verse en la situación. Pero por no alargarme voy a los cafés los cafés, pedimos 3 y entonces viene al de un rato, que se le había olvidado como lo queríamos, se lo repetimos y se marcha según le estamos diciendo y entonces uno de ellos era con hielo y le llamamos y sin acercarse y se da la vuelta desde lejos y siguiendo andando y le dicen que es que es con hielo y dice vale vale y se marchó. En fin es probable que vuelva, pero miraré a ver si me toca el mismo camarero, porque si es así, pues pediré que me lo cambien porque el sitio lo merece y es agradable y yo el único comportamiento que veía así fue el del señor este que la verdad es que no vale para estar en un sitio de la categoría que tiene...
