Hostal Restaurante Fogón de Gredos — Restaurant in Guisando

Situated in a stunning location at Guisando in the Gredos Mountains, a short drive from Arenas de San Pedro. The Hostel-Restaurante Fogon de Gredos offers basic comfort and sustenance. First observations hint that money needs to be spent on the premises. However, cleanliness was paramount. The guest rooms are simple and extremely basic, but then what can you expect for around €30 per night. The en suite bathroom was adequate and clean but I found that I required contortionist training to use the shower. Wifi, very important these days, is free and worked well. There was plenty of parking available close to the Hostel.||The restaurant was impressive with fine views over the surrounding countryside. Food was no more than okay, but having spent all day exploring towns and villages in the Gredos mountains we all seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. I can certainly recommend the house red, can’t remember what it was now, but we found it to be excellent.||A simple but adequate breakfast was served in the cafeteria/bar by the friendly proprietor. He seem to do everything, receptionist, waiter, chef, everything!||We enjoyed our short stay, would we stay again?...

Estuve con mi pareja hace unos dias. Terminábamos la etapa de la Transgredos que estábamos haciendo en Guisando y llegamos sobre las 14:30 al hotel. Puesto que la entrada a la habitación no era posible hasta las 17:00 decidimos comer en el restaurante. Un menu de 15 euros sin bebida.||La atencion recibida fue caotica. Un solo camarero atendia y no daba abasto. ||Le pedimos dos cañas que no tenía y nos ofreció botellines. La calidad de la comida bastante justa pero después de 70km ya se sabe que al hambre no hay pan duro.||La cuenta, juzguenla ustedes mismos, a mi particularmente caro me parece pero ya no por que sea un Menu en un  pueblo de la sierra de Gredos sino por la deficitaria atención recibida. Aunque es de resaltar el cobro del extra de pan y el precio del botellin de cerveza.||Dieron las 17:00 y ya en recepción, cual fue nuestra sorpresa que el camarero era también el recepcionista. Nos alojamos en una habitacion doble con el baño privado externo. Habitación vieja, colchones incomodos, sabanas raidas. Lo mejor el sistema para colgar la alcachofa de la ducha, TOP BRICOMANIA! ||Por la  noche nos permitio guardar las bicicletas dentro del comedor diciendonos que se abria a las 08:30 de la mañana siguiente para dar desayunos.||Al dia siguiente bajamos a las 08:15 y esperamos en el hall y de la misma, bajo el camarero-recepcionista-gerente y nos dijo literalmente "Os voy a dar vuestras bicicletas y os marchais, porque estais dando unos portazos que no es normal!!"||Tanto mi pareja como yo no dabamos crédito de lo que estábamos presenciando. Si hicimos ruido no fuimos conscientes de ello ni de molestar a nadie dado que las 8 de la mañana es una hora en la que un establecimiento hotelero debiera estar en pleno funcionamiento, mas si ofrece desayunos. Aun así no es excusa, ni justificable en trato vejatorio recibido. Por ello decidi pedirle una hoja de reclamaciones, negandome un bolígrafo para poder escribirla (de patio de colegio vamos). ||Os recomiendo evitar este establecimiento si no queréis llevaros un mal recuerdo...
