I don’t normally leave reviews, but I feel I should warn others about this place.
We ordered the paella and a bottle of wine and were told there would be a wait - fair enough. However, it took 30 minutes just to place our order, and when the wine arrived, it was warm, which set the tone for the rest of the meal. We were also encouraged to order other dishes while waiting, but after the initial order, the waitress disappeared, and we never even got the chance to add anything else. At that point, we told ourselves we’d just get through the paella and move somewhere else.
Then, after a 1h50 wait (yes, seriously, I timed it), the paella finally arrived. And honestly, it would have been better if it never came. It tasted like a microwaved 1€ packet of rice, with just two chewy, unfresh prawns. At 36€, you’re essentially paying for a tiny, sad portion of rice.
To be fair, the restaurant was clearly understaffed, and I felt bad for the one poor waitress trying to keep up. Maybe this was just an off night, and maybe the place caters more to locals. But if you’re staying elsewhere and thinking of coming here, don’t- for the price, you can find far better food and service pretty much anywhere else...
Read moreNew owners from Feb 2020 that need to catch up with the previous owners standards quickly. Had 2 meals there, the first were fine but not as described on the menu , the second same again but 3 identical plates came out 3 different temperatures, mine the fish was very dry, my friends the 3 alleged langostinos were rock hard and inedible and the third had the wrong potato served. Pointed all this out to the waiter/manager who shrugged his shoulders and said something about the kitchens fault. A small discount or another offer may have helped but there were none. Like all other eateries in Charco del Palo there are so much better just under a mile away in Mala. 2022 and a return to the excellent establishment it was. Beautiful food and excellent wine.
Yet more new owners? Menu now very limited and service very slow. The food was average and slightly pricey for what you get. Very friendly service and the best in Charco to eat but that doesn't really say much. Better to head up to Mala or beyond for much better...
