A great place for the craic & a really good pint of Guinness ! Of course . The vibe of the church is very reminiscent of the big city pub's & bars in the emerald isle & you will I'm sure enjoy the warm welcome & hospitality of the church bar & bistro team . The Guinness here was very good as before mentioned & served in the correct glass & went down quite well , with my whiskey/whisky chaser ! Both spellings there depending on what side of the water your from . The theme of the bar is as you may guess is Gaelic & church inspired & the bar is decorated with some light hearted religious inspired art works that are thought provoking to some , but as most of us who originate from the mother country really do have the odd nun in the family & at a family meeting they are known to have a cheeky pint of Guinness & the occasional sweet Afton or two & if it's their day of fair play ! . The church also has some very good home style Irish meals & might I add they are very generous portions & ideal for those with a healthy appetite . The prices here are lower @ the church , than in Ireland & the UK for both food & drinks & the measures for spirits are also larger than Ireland & the UK so it really is a value for money drinks & dining experience . So if you appreciate good home cooking a pint of Guinness & enjoy the craic , plus polite & friendly service then the church could be worth a visit for you like myself ! . TAKE YOUR PRAISE CHURCH ! many...
Read moreWent there for Sunday lunch with some friends who were over on holiday, booked a couple of days before. Was a little surprised just how quiet it was in there. We got our drinks and it was explained that we get a soft drink or a small beer with the dinner. Service was a little slow but it may be like that all the time. The food was great I have no complaints about that, good portions and with a good selection of veg... When the bill arrived my wife noticed that we had been charged for all of our drinks and questioned this, the server said he would remove the equivalent of six soft drinks and we then paid. It table next to us also asked why they had been fully charged for drinks.. I can only assume that they thought we were all tourists and would not notice (my opinion). So while it was a nice Sunday lunch, we may not go back, but if we do we will examine the bill.... I suggest everyone...
Read moreWe booked a table for lunch. After arrival we waited 10 minutes before we enquired if we needed to order at the bar. A grey haired waitress said no she would come to take the order. After another 7 minutes, 4 people that attended the bar was served. We had no recognition from the staff, or any other communication. Another employee who had left after our arrival, returned , still no recognition or communication between staff we were waiting. The returned employee went behind the bar and immediately went talking to 3 guys. The interest off the staff seemed to be photo's of the chef's new baby. Customer service was diabolical and I walked out!!!!. On leaving the great haired lady was outside talking, certainly in no rush to take my order. I certainly won't be reccomending or returning to this bar. I work in the area and deal with many people, shame you can't be...
