Tapas del Sur — Restaurant in l'Eliana

The limited menu for Sunday lunch was less than inspiring and below the quality we were expecting given Tapas del Sur tops the rankings for L' eliana restuarants on Tripadvisor. However the service was exemplary across the board, so much so it made the experience an enjoyable one. A tiny personal gripe is the selection of beers on offer. The Valencia area has a number of great independent producers who are way better than Heineken and Amstel, surely using them isn't difficult? We will return on a weekday for the full menu as it's not fair to judge the whole setup on just a Sunday one so for now it's 4 stars, mainly because of the great set of people...

A very honest review: maybe this place is great for tapas but I would warn you against a lunch menu there. Rice tasted like it had been microwaved, not fresh. Ribs were smaller than my hand and mostly fat, inedible. Cheesecake was more of a jello cake, no flavor. I did like that they gave a “free” salad and small portion of bread with tomato. But those are cheap and fast things to give a guest. Menu wasn’t extremely expensive but I felt it wasn’t worth its value either. A few items were good so maybe if we decide to return one day we would only go the tapas route and then I may be able to change my review. But until then, we left disappointed...

Hemos reservado (2 personas) para las 13:45, por teléfono 45 minutos antes. El menú de hoy viernes costaba 14€ pero estaba todo incluido: bebida, primer plato, segundo plato, postre y manzanilla. Yo de 1º he pedido unos fideos finos, tostaditos, con una salsa rosa (muy ricos, nunca había comido algo así). De 2º he tomado un pescado muy parecido al bacalao, con pimientos de padrón (no picaban); antes he preguntado al camarero si el pescado tenía espinas y me ha respondido que no (lo he dicho porque una vez me clavé una espina de dorada y acabé en La Fe nueva, y estuve sufriendo hasta las 2 de la madrugada acompañado de mi hija mayor, hasta que el médico de guardia -que tardó en venir, y no encontraba los instrumentos- me la sacó y mi satisfacción fue infinita -llegué a dar a una persona que me pidió en el lavabo dinero para sus hijos y mujer que estaban interesados, y le di no sé cuánto, porque mi satisfacción era immensa). Este pescado también estaba muy bueno. De postre tomé tarta de chocolate (muy rica también) Bebí una cerveza 0/0. Y como infusión, como ya he dicho, tomé una manzanilla muy calentita (la pasé a la copa que no había usado pues tomé la cerveza "a morro".
