La Clota — Restaurant in l'Escala

La Clota fulfils many clichés in the most positive sense, but at the same time knows how to surprise. This is also reflected in the mixed crowd. You'll find the 60-year-old son with his 80-year-old dad in tow for lunch, young couples who seem to be exploring the world of upscale cuisine for the first time, families with children and well-travelled eaters like us. If you look at the faces of the guests, they all seem to share something: a big smile. No wonder, after all, at La Clota they cook something for (almost) everyone. Down-to-earth cuisine without exaggerated chi chi; the fish dishes convince with a lot of their own flavour without over-seasoning and puristic presentation. Together with the wonderfully inviting house, a tasteful place for culinary delights, with outdoor dining not far from the harbour area of La Escala, and the engagingly beautiful surroundings, La Clota leaves hardly anything to be desired - at any time of year. Our SUMMARY: Good cuisine, an impressive range of dishes, an extremely charming setting. You can hardly go wrong with a visit to La Clota, nestled in the small harbour idyll. Particularly noteworthy is the always friendly service, which wordlessly takes care of many things imperceptibly. Beautifully situated on a corner overlooking the boats in the port. The tables are set in elegant style. The service is friendly and efficient. Our anchovies and pan con tomate were the poorest we had encountered to date, dry bread and slim anchovies. The Paella mixta was cooked in black ink and had a token of the normal things – two mussels, one langoustine, two pieces of meat etc the rice was unevenly cooked. The turbot (€23) was a whole baby turbot well cooked with some vegetables. Wine list marginally expensive – Rioja €15. Overall...

Eines der schlimmsten Restaurant in ganz L`Escala !!! Auf der suche nach einem kleinen Mittagssnack, waren wir im LA Clota am Hafen, da wir das Lokal bereits mehrmals gesehen hatten. Angekommen wurden wir zunächst in die letzte Sitzreihe verfrachtet, obwohl genügend Plätze auf der Terrasse frei waren - wir nahmen es einfach hin. Ab dann begann eine endlose Prozedur, gefolgt von Miesem Essen. Zu beginn sollte man wissen, das jeder Kellner eine andere Aufgabe hat, und so kam die erste Kellnerin nach 15 Minuten nahm unsere Getränke auf, konnte allerdings nicht unsere Essens Bestellung aufnehmen - ?? - Als nach weiteren 10 Minuten eine weitere Kellnerin an unserem Tisch kam, bekamen wir eine Portion Brot (knapp 2,- Euro) und Aioli - Ich bin der Meinung das man zumindest gefragt werden sollte, wenn man Brot bekommt, das am Ende berechnet wird, ob man es übernahmt haben möchte ? -Auch das nahmen wir hin. Weitere 10 Minuten verstrichen als unser Keller wegen des Essens kam. Ohne ein "Hallo" "guten Tag" oder ähnliches nahm er wortlos unsere Bestellung auf. 20 Minuten Später - ENDLICH: das Essen .... Geträngt in öl und geschmacklos sah es zwar ok aus, der Geschmacksfaktor aber lag bei unter -1. Als wir dann 3x (!!!!!) nach unserer Rechnung baten, erhielten wir diese nach weiteren 15 Minuten - REKORD !! Nie wieder dieses Lokal !! NIE WIEDER Nicht ein kellner grüsst oder schenkt ein lächen, das Essen ist vollkommen geschmacklos und die Rechnung und Wartezeiten haben es in sich. 2 Tapas (u.a Tintenfischringe) 1 Glas Limonade (Fanta) 1 Pommes (für unsere Tochter) 1 Glas Radler Brot - ohne gefragt zu...
