Upon seeking refuge from a light drizzle, my family and I stumbled upon "Por Orazio", an Italian restaurant that promised more than just a dry shelter. As my uncle aptly noted, "This restaurant will surprise us all."
To accommodate our party of ten, the staff, after some deliberation, decided to allocate only three tables instead of the anticipated four, making us slightly cramped. This, I presume, was to make room for other patrons. Though it was a small inconvenience, it was not a significant deterrent.
On the upside, the restaurant provided commendable free Wi-Fi. On the downside, there were beverage limitations; no Sprite or peach iced tea was available, and my brother's drink order was overlooked.
A prominent issue was the exclusive digital menu. Not being web-based but instead a downloadable PDF (available only in Spanish and French), it was difficult to translate and entirely inaccessible to my grandfather who doesn’t own a cell phone. He had to peer over my brother's shoulder. The menu's design left much to be desired.
The prices of the salad seemed steep, akin to upscale restaurants. Additionally, the waiter's unorthodox method of taking orders randomly and out of sequence created unnecessary confusion.
A quirky note: a poster in the restroom quite humorously highlighted that toilet paper should not be discarded in the toilet.
While our wait time for food was reasonable, there were a few issues in service. My aunt's meal was initially forgotten but was promptly served upon realization. The Spaghetti Carbonara, though delicious, was less satiating than hoped for. Conversely, the pizza garnered favorable reviews from my companions. However, the Napoli was criticized for its watery consistency and uneven pasta-to-sauce ratio.
A redeeming grace was the Tiramisu - it was nothing nothing short of divine, even if my brother inadvertently inhaled the cocoa topping.
In summary, while the cuisine was mostly commendable, several logistical issues detracted from the overall experience. Thus, Por Orazio earns a 3 out of 5 stars, with the potential for so much more if the aforementioned concerns...
