We were lucky to get the last table, having not made reservations. And this is off season, mind you. The interior design is tasteful and cunning. While you are led to your table you walk over glas and you can see the vine cellar in the basement. There are 4 smaller tables and 2 bigger ones. The team consists of 2 men at the tables, providing impeccable service to the guests and two women in the kitchen to churn out delicious tapas. While you should at least reserve 2h for this culinary course, you do not feel left alone for a minute. Everything works hand in hand flawlessly and the tapas do come in the right order and composition. A feat not easily done when 9 tapas plus dessert and beverages are to be harmonized. Each tapas is more or less double digits and than there is the fireworks for 2 persons with all the kitchen can muster and wine included for 175,-. The Man of the house, a sommelier, prides himself of flanking every flavor with the perfect match of vine . The tasty dessert menu even makes suggestions of the perfect companion to the sweets. Like I said, expect 2h of culinary delight and your account to be lightened by triple digits together with your better half. I am certainly happy that this family enterprise knows how to make this concept work. And while not every course suited my pallet the whole experience is well worth it. Strong recommendations for a special evening. Don't miss...
Read moreOn our first evening in L’ Escala we were looking for something special, but also cozy. We have found this wine bar by accident, what a luck!
The bar offers a great selection of delicious and creative tapas paired with a great selection on unique wines. The wine card can seem pretty overwhelming, the owner however is very professional and makes great recommendations on which wine pairs with which tapas the best.
We have chosen 5 tapas, suggested by the owner. We started with a glass of cava. The tapas was served one by one. Allowing us to savor each course with a corresponding wine. We had a fresh salad with St. Jacques, smoked tuna sashimi, foie gras, saam of chicken and tartare. Our highlight was a red wine from 1995.
For our delights including at the end a coffee and a dessert. We have paid 150€. A great value for the impeccable service, unique wines and delicious food. One of us had multiple allergies, the service was professional and the kitchen adjusted the tapas, so that it can be enjoyed by all at the table (thank you for that)!
