I heard very promising things about this place, but unfortunately was left disappointed in my experience. I went during my lunch break one day during the week, the restaurant was far from busy, maybe 5-6 tables of people. It took almost 45mins of waiting before I received my meal and the owner herself noticed me and how long is waited that she went to check on my order herself. Having worked in restaurants previously, the amount of time I had to wait wasn’t justified by the amount of people present in the restaurant. In Mexico and the US it’s not common to wait that long for food in a Mexican restaurant based on my experience. Once it finally arrived about 10mins later I was given a plate that was about 2/3 plain white rice (dry and undercooked) and the meat I ordered (barbacoa - which was recommended to me by the cashier) and it was also dry as well. Unfortunately I had to eat very fast and leave because of the amount of time it took to receive the food. The experience left me confused about how a place that prides itself on authenticity could run exactly opposite to every other Mexican restaurant I’ve ever visited in both Mexico and the US. I also see that they’re opening a new location and I just have to wonder if that’s a good strategy because if this location is still struggling (which based on other reviews the things I brought up seem to be quite common) to think it’s a good idea to expand. If I ever decide to give this place another chance and have a better experience then I will come back and change this review...
Read moreSummary: Definitely recommend eating here. Delicious food. Good service. Cheaper side. Quite busy in the evenings. Ratings and prices below.
Located in the food court on the 2nd floor of La Farga shopping centre, El Sazon de Isabel is a Mexican street food shop. The food court gets busy in the evening and the locals seem to love El Sazon especially so order as soon as possible and you will get your food quickly. The lady at the till speaks enough English for tourists to order here if they don't speak much Spanish. The first time we ate here there was a very friendly cook who spoke good English and gave us advice on what to eat - the service here is great.
We loved this place when we ate here at the start of our holiday so came here again on our last day - our favourite food we'd tried while in Spain. I recommend 3 (or 4) tacos per person.
Food ratings: Quesadillas 8/10 Taco con Pastor (Pork) 9/10 Taco con Cochinita Pibil (Pork) 8/10 Taco con Tinga de Pollo (chicken) 6.5/10 -- nice but fairly bland compared to others Taco con Ternera (Veal) 7.5/10 Taco con Carnitas (Pork) 9/10 - My favourite (*Ratings are averages of what my family said)
