Lost in Translation at QR-Code Cuisine
When I ventured into this eatery, little did I know I’d be embarking on a digital treasure hunt for my lunch. Armed with three QR codes—more cryptic than a Rubik’s cube—I was transported not to a menu but a Spanish crash course. The menu listings were as minimalist as a modern art piece: just names, no descriptions, no ingredient lists, and not an allergy warning in sight.
My culinary saga continued as I, under the illusion of a vegetable feast, ordered a ramen that turned out to be a pork parade. The plot twist? The same innocuous photo of the soup enlarged to reveal a tiny disclaimer: “Pork.” In the realm of this restaurant, clicking is believing.
The staff’s resolution was equally baffling. Despite the mix-up, their generous compromise was for me to pay half for the porky surprise I never intended to order. Their rationale? It was already made. My suggestion for next time? Perhaps ensuring that the server who speaks English could take orders from those of us who haven’t mastered the art of telepathy yet.
Despite the culinary confusion and a setting that could put an insomniac to sleep, the food did a standing ovation on my taste buds—it was genuinely impressive. However, if you’re seeking a place where service is as finely tuned as the cuisine, this may not be your jam. Read moreAbsolutely Outstanding Japanese BBQ Experience
I’m 43, I’ve traveled extensively, and I’ve had Japanese BBQ in at least four countries, from popular chains to boutique spots.
While I haven’t yet had it in Japan, I can say without hesitation that Kauberu in L'Hospitalet, Spain, delivered one of the best meals of my life.
The ambiance was stunning, thoughtful design, warm lighting, and an atmosphere that felt both modern and intimate.
The service was exceptional from start to finish. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming.
But the meal? Incredible. Perfectly marbled cuts, beautifully presented sides, and expertly balanced flavors.
I was honestly shocked to find such a high-level Japanese BBQ experience in Spain.
This place is a hidden gem. If you're anywhere near Barcelona, make the trip. You...
Read moreWe had been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time. We finally decided to go and I must say that we expected better. I also have to add that of course, expectations can be harmful to the real experience.
The meat is very good and the sauces they give you to accompany it are very good. We also tried some vegetable ramen, katsu chicken curry and donburi teriyaki with beef. Ramen only tasted like wakame, so it didn't meet our expectations. The other 2 rices were actually quite good, the sauces did their job. We also orderes some sushi and the fish portions were generous. The sushi itself was good.
I think it is a good place to eat occasionally, but don't go frequently, since it also has somewhat high prices...
