Nestled in the charming village of La Morera de Montsant, the local restaurant La Morera is a hidden gem that promises an extraordinary dining experience. As a food lover who appreciates both traditional recipes and innovative culinary creations, I was delighted to find a place that harmoniously merges the two at La Morera.
Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately struck by its warm and inviting ambiance. The rustic decor, with its wooden beams and stone walls, exuded a sense of authenticity that perfectly complemented the local fare I was about to enjoy.
The menu at La Morera is a true celebration of Priorat cuisine, showcasing traditional dishes passed down through generations. What sets this restaurant apart, however, is their ability to infuse these classic recipes with a modern touch, resulting in innovative and exciting flavors. While respecting the roots of the local food, La Morera manages to elevate it to a whole new level.
One dish that exemplifies this approach is their renowned Truita amb suc. A traditional Catalan stew. At La Morera, they skillfully modernize it by introducing refined plating techniques and carefully balancing the flavors. The result is a delicious, contemporary twist on a beloved family recipe.
Another standout dish is their signature Lamb with Priorat Wine Reduction. The succulent, meat was perfectly cooked and enhanced by the rich, velvety reduction. It was a delightful marriage of flavors that left me craving for more.
The wine selection at La Morera is equally impressive, with a strong emphasis on the local wines for which the Priorat region is renowned, as it is shown in their new wine list. The knowledgeable owner was able to guide me through the extensive list, and I ended up enjoying a glass of wine, which beautifully complemented my meal.
The attentive and friendly staff at La Morera provided fantastic service throughout my visit. Their passion for the local cuisine was evident in every interaction, adding an extra layer of warmth to the dining experience.
In summary, La Morera is a must-visit restaurant for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Priorat cuisine with a contemporary twist. The combination of traditional recipes and innovative, modern touches creates a unique culinary journey that is bound to leave a lasting impression.

Read moreIt's a typical, country-style, home cooked meals restaurant. It's very good value for the set meal, especially because the servings are huge. They seem to have seasonal menus which is nice. I really enjoyed the salad, the creamy pasta and the veal cheeks. The brownie was very good too. The only flaw was that they were very quick to "offer" a more expensive bottle of wine, when a glass of wine was actually included. This added 25€...
