We took a quick road trip to Barcelona and needed a place to stay halfway between Lisbon and BCN. We SCORED. The room was amazing, clean, and completely remodeled. It was 40 celsius outside and I was going for a good A/C. It was the best air conditioning I have encountered in our travels. It was so cold, I had to turn it down. The town is adorable and still fairly close to the highway.
We got here a little late and decided to try out the restaurant. We had the best meal we have had out in a couple years. The venison loin was aged and then cooked to medium rare perfection. I wish I had a photo, but, it was gone before we thought about it. The oxtail was equally delicious and so tender it fell off the bone. My wife did take a picture of the tart. Read more😊: We did go in. 😢: We’d had confirmation from booking. Com that check in was agreed for 16.00-17.00 hrs - our ETA. We arrived at 4pm to find the hotel totally locked up and in darkness. We found a telephone bet on the booking confirmation. It was a difficult conversation due to the language barrier and the gentleman on the other end hung up. I rang back and finally got a message via the booking. com app to say we could check in at 5. Having driven 6 hours from Portugal, and arriving at 4pm, we were unhappy about having to wait in the heat. We walked around the village and it was as deserted and there was nowhere open. Le pido una hamburguesa y me dice que solo ofrecen menú porque lo tienen preparado para los huéspedes como yo. Yo le comento que no quiero cenar un menú porque es mucha comida y le digo lo que me había ofrecido el recepcionista. A regañadientes acepta y entonces de buena fe le digo que está bien que me ponga lo que más freco tenga a lo cual me dice alzando la voz que la estoy ofendiendo. Vamos, no la mandé a paseo porque no había ningún otro sitio para cenar. Llega la hamburguesa. El pan sacado del congelador xq se deshacía todo. La hamburguesa congelada también porque estaba dura aunque buena de sabor. El tomate y el queso de quinta y de guarnición patatas fritas de bolsa. Y va y me cobra 13 euros por la peor hamburguesa en años, una fanta y una copa de crema de orujo. El desayuno por la mañana, la tostada, pan rancio. El zumo de naranja de bote. Puedo entender que no tengas género de primera pero no lo cobres cómo tal. Puedo entender que están los restaurantes cerrados y tengas todo congelado, pero dilo y más si te lo están señalando. Lo que no se puede aguantar es a una persona malencarada con los clientes.
