Found this hidden gem after a taking the underground river boat trip at Sant Josep. We were very hungry and though there were several options at the caves, we had read the reviews for VAOH and it looked great. It’s only a five minute drive and we lucked out with a parking spot closeby, so we were quickly sitting down looking at the menu enjoying a beer. It’s nestled in a neighborhood and the first thing we noticed was what a great takeout trade they had on a Sunday. Pretty much everyone said either hello or goodbye as they came in and left which made us feel at home - these niceties have been forgotten in bigger cities. Anyway they have several solid options for starters and mains plus they had additional choices for the day. My husband had pulpo and potato salad and I opted for the salmon tartare. Pulpo can be challenging to prepare, so many places overcook it resulting in tough or burned pulpo but at VAOH, it was spectacular! Tender and delicious and more than once, my fork returned to steal another bite right off his plate! My salmon tartare was super - very refreshing with mango, red onions and avocado, I enjoyed it. For our mains, he had solomillo de pollo with patatas in a silky camembert cream sauce and I opted for the solomillo de cerdo iberico. Wow! I don’t know which culinary magician they have there, but again - both dishes perfectly cooked and scrumptious! Hearty food, beautifully prepared & definitely memorable. We shouldn’t have had room for dessert, but when it’s that good how could you not? He enjoyed the carrot cake with the lightest fluffiest frosting and I had red berry cheesecake - what a decadent finish to an excellent meal! I’m certain we’ll be thinking of what a treat eating at VAOH was and finding reasons to drive back up there and go again! Great food, neighborhood feel and excellent value!

Comimos menú fin de semana por 14,90€. No está mal por precio, los postres nos gustaron mucho, pero sí que vimos cosas a mejorar. Las raciones eran abundantes, los segundos estaban ricos y la gran mayoría de primeros eran correctos. Lo que nos decepcionó fue el tartar de salmón, nos pareció un engaño ya que era un salpicón de palitos de cangrejo con tomate, cebolla, mango y mostaza. Sólo llevaba una rodaja de aguacate y ni siquiera llevaba salmón. Estaría bien que si se ofrece tartar de salmón en la carta, al menos que cumpla con los ingredientes básicos del plato, el salmón y el aguacate. Por lo demás, sitio correcto.

En mi caso probé, de entrante la tabla selecta y de segundo costillar a la barbacoa (está buenísimo). La bebida se paga aparte. Local limpio sin grandes ostentaciones en decoración, lo que interesa es la comida. Personal atento y amable. AMPLIAMOS....Hemos repetido por segunda vez la comida acertada, en cambio el servicio del personal un poco despistados.

Primera vez que vengo a este restaurante y nos ha encantado. Dispone de menu diario, los domingos el precio sube. Menú a elegir entre 5 entrantes, plato principal entre 7 posibilidades y postre. En mi caso probé, de entrante la tabla selecta y de segundo costillar a la barbacoa (está buenísimo). La bebida se paga aparte. Local limpio sin grandes ostentaciones en decoración, lo que interesa es la comida. Personal atento y amable. AMPLIAMOS....Hemos repetido por segunda vez la comida acertada, en cambio el servicio del personal un poco despistados.

Fuimos a cenar de menú en el día de reyes y después de haber llamado y reservar con ellos al llegar y comentar que por razones personales no seríamos 8 si no 6 personas el camarero ya nos puso mala cara y nos coloco en una mesa sin más... Otra cosa que no entendimos es que cogiendo el menú de su Instagram donde venían los platos y los entrantes nos trajeron entrantes que no venían reflejados en el y al comentárselo en esta ocasión a la camarera ,se fue a consultarlo con el camarero y después de bufar y mirarnos como si hubiéramos cometido un delito nos llega la chica y nos dice que ese menú era del año pasado(cosa que no es cierta por que lo miramos cómo 40 veces antes de ir al restaurante)y para colmo volvemos a mirarlo por Instagram que fue de donde lo sacamos y magiaa el menú había desaparecido.... El menú por el que habíamos reservado valía 30 y por este siendo menos cosas nos soplo 35 ,por el que reservamos incluían postre y café y en este nos clavo los cafés al final salimos de allí por 46 por cabeza...La comida no estaba mala pero los principales llegaron fríos a la mesa ,uno de nosotros les pidió si podrían calentarselo y reacción negativa como durante toda la noche... La calidad del producto es buena pero el servicio a mi juicio es horrible...nada simpático y encima nos fuimos con la sensación de ser mal recibidos ,mal servidos y bastante engañados....sin duda no volveremos más....seguramente hasta se sienta mejor...

En términos generales me ha gustado.

Hemos reservado cuando llegábamos de camino a Valencia desde Barcelona haciendo parada en las Cuevas.

Hemos llegado a la una, recomendaría llegar un poco más tarde ya que creo que aún no estaban listos del todo y han tardado un poquito en venir a pedir. Hubiera agradecido que nos ofrecieran bebidas durante la espera, aún así todo correcto.

El canelón, está bueno, nunca lo había visto con carne picada de ternera como tal pero no defrauda, pone que gratinado al momento, pero luego viene blanquito y no tiene el típico tono tostado de un gratinado, más bien lo regeneran y le añaden la bechamel y se calienta en el horno. Nos gustó.

Arroz del día súper sabroso y solomillo de cerdo muy bueno, soy muy salsera y me ha faltado un poquito de salsa pero eso es personal.

Postres; pastel de queso y tiramisú (hice dos con un suplemento de 3.50€) brutales los...
