Bar Restaurante La Algodonera — Restaurant in Las Cabezas de San Juan

We were hot, we were hung over from staying out too late the night before a long drive through Spain...we needed food. We don't speak much Spanish. We pulled off the highway looking for a place that was open that would serve us lunch. We found this place, entering first through the bar, full of Spanish men smoking and drinking sheltering out of the Sunday afternoon sun. We were unsure and a little intimidated. We were shown to a table in the back. A man who spoke very little, is any, english asked us if we wanted beef or fish. Salad? We said beef and yes. What came next was maybe one of the best steaks I have had in my life. Served with two amazing sauces, one a spicy steak sauce of some kind, the other a garlic aïoli... If I knew more spanish I would have pressed this friendly stranger for the recipes for both...instead we continued on our way, full and happy. Highly...

We decided to look for a restaurant off the beaten track on our way back from Jerez de la Frontera. It's an unassuming place, and our lack of Spanish caused the ordering to take a little longer than usual, but the owner was very keen to understand, so with a smattering of English, Spanish, Portuguese and some pointing, we got what we wanted and more. All four of us ordered something different, but each was amazing. The owner couldn't do enough for us, and the bill was very low, so we insisted on leaving a generous tip. This prompted him to return with treats to take home. He was absolutely lovely thoroughout the whole experience. We'd love to go back if we're heading this way again. Мы попали в этот ресторан случайно….и остались в нем часа на 2 минимум, потрясающее колоритное место, где обедают только местные….Хозяин Андрес и его дочь обслуживают столики с улыбкой….когда Андрес нес блюда на другие столы-он показывал его нам и рассказывал что это…в итоге мы столько всего🤣🤣 каждое блюдо было шедевром. Мидии-просто свежайшие, креветки-как будто душа моря….сочные, посыпанные крупной солью….по рекомендации мы взяли еще ракушки в соусе из томатов и перца-их вкус просто невозможно описать….все просто, по домашнему, но безумно вкусно, в дополнении с бокалом пива наш обед был просто потрясающим…и завершили мы его форелью на гриле🔥🔥🔥🔥 так же в этом месте вы можете приобрести местные продукты и прочувствовать что Андалусия-это люди….добрые, открытые, и с постоянной улыбкой на лице.Спасибо вам за вашу работу, мы...
