Restaurante Utzine — Restaurant in Laudio/Llodio

We were visiting the town for some tough hiking in the surrounding hills. Came here for a menu del dia. It's easy to pass this restaurant as there is no pavement advertising and the door is always closed. We arrived without knowing much about the place and didn't realise that it's best to reserve especially for more than two people. We got a table after the friendly waitress checked her reservation book. There is a very small bar area just inside the door to wait.

We were seated by a friendly waitress and a bottle of red wine, a bottle of water and a basket of fresh crispy mixed breads was placed on the table. A very friendly young waitress with a great attitude took our order and spoke in english so we could understand the dishes.

First Course. My wife ordered Pepper Salad with Tuna. I ordered the Salmon Salad with Potatoes. Both dishes were just fantastic. Really well presented and looked so good on the dish.

Second Course. My wife ordered the Hake Fish with Potatoes. I ordered the Beef with homemade Chips and a Pepper. Again both dishes were delicious.

Desert. We both had the Profiteroles A fantastic finish to the meal.

This is one of the best menu del dias we have had in Spain. All the other good ones have also been in the Basque Country. It may be a little more expensive than others but definitely well worth it. The presentation of the dishes was top drawer. The taste of all dishes were fantastic. The chef here really loves their job and it shows. The two waitresses, looked like mother and daughter were so good at keeping the place ticking over, so efficient with a smile. If you are visiting you must try the food here.

Restaurant Utzine wordt uitgebaat door een moeder en dochter, wat meteen zorgt voor een persoonlijke en huiselijke sfeer. We werden hartelijk ontvangen door de dochter, die ons vriendelijk en vlot begeleidde naar onze tafel. Zonder vooraf te vragen werden een fles rode wijn en wat brood op tafel gezet — een aangename verrassing, al was het wat onverwacht. De wijn bleek trouwens uitstekend te smaken.

Er was geen menukaart, maar de dochter lichtte mondeling alle keuzemogelijkheden toe, wat het geheel informeel en direct maakte. De gerechten volgden elkaar in een vlot tempo op. Elk gerecht was zorgvuldig gepresenteerd en smaakte bijzonder goed. Het is duidelijk dat de kok met veel toewijding en plezier kookt.

Kortom, Utzine biedt een warme, gastvrije ervaring en een smakelijke keuken. In verhouding tot de prijs is het absoluut de moeite waard. Geen overdaad, maar gewoon goed eten in een fijne setting.

El restaurante Utzine está gestionado por una madre y su hija, lo que de inmediato crea un ambiente personal y acogedor. Fuimos recibidos cordialmente por la hija, quien nos acompañó a la mesa de manera amable y eficiente. Sin pedirlo, nos sirvieron una botella de vino tinto y algo de pan, una sorpresa agradable, aunque un poco inesperada. Por cierto, el vino resultó ser excelente.

No había carta, pero la hija nos explicó verbalmente todas las opciones del menú, lo que hizo que la experiencia fuera informal y directa. Los platos se sirvieron a buen ritmo. Cada plato estaba cuidadosamente presentado y tenía un sabor delicioso. Es evidente que el cocinero trabaja con mucha dedicación y pasión.

En resumen, Utzine ofrece una experiencia cálida y acogedora, y una cocina muy sabrosa. En relación con el precio, es absolutamente recomendable. Sin excesos, simplemente buena comida en un...
