A great recommendation from our host Daniel from the Lovely Cat’s Room just opposite the restaurant. As foreigners, we didn’t know about the late hours of opening - doors went open at 20:00 sharp. Anyway, waiting was worth it: our dinner was perfectly cooked, fresh and tasty.

Client chooses the fresh see food (right hand) and drinks (left hand), than proceeds to the table in the dining hall. Prepared dishes are being delivered by waiters to the table.

If you, like us, happen to be very bad in Spanish, ask for Neri, for she is not only a charming young lady, but also speaks English fluently.

We had fish soup and shrimps, which both were real joy for our tastebuds.

Dos adultos. Pedimos 1 docena de almejas marinera, 1 docena de almejas plancha, 1 docena de gambas plancha, 1 carabinero, 1 langostino jumbo y un arroz caldoso de bogavante. De las dos docenas de almejas, ninguna eran 12 ( que raro ), salen en vez de 12 gambas a la plancha 8 ( mosqueo total ) me dirijo al mostrador de la pescadería y se lo comento a la chica que atiende, sonrrisita y tal ... Te faltan 4 gambas, ahora te las llevamos, muy bien, entonces digo ... Pésame por favor a ver qué peso tienen 8 gambas ( mi cuenta dice 165gr de gambas) , entonces ... Sorpresa: pesan 110gr. Nos traen a la mesa una docenas de gambas a la plancha gratis, muy bien ( no me vais a comprar), nos invitan a los postres ( no me vais a comprar), nos hace, creo la encargada, la pelota descaradamente ( por favor ). Os he pillado, quitáis unidades de productos que cobráis a peso, eso directamente es estafar a las personas que con toda la ilusión del mundo vamos a comer allí. Si lo habéis hecho con nosotros, da que pensar que lo haréis con más clientes. Flipando en colores. Añadir también, que el arroz caldoso estaba bastante insípido y el langostino jumbo era pésimo, carne dura tirando a gomosa, sabor rozando lo desagradable. Lo.demas correcto. Una de las camareras que nos atendió ( latina -mulata ) fué una gran profesional,.en todo momento fué atenta y con trato excelente, muchas gracias. Una pena no poder volver a ir a la única marisquería de Álava, llevaba años...

If you are ever in the basque country, grab a rental car and make sure you visit Ipar Itsaso Marisqueria in Urrúnaga. Amazingly fresh fish prepared to order. Either way the way you want it or you can always ask for their recommendation. You pick your fish and hand it over to the cook. Increíble comida de aniversario, con la familia. Es un poco rollo, el que no tengan una lista con los precios expuesta y así saber, a ciencia cierta, qué es lo que hay y a cuánto sale. Pero en el expositor de la pescadería, y en la pizarra grande de al lado, se puede ver todo el género del que disponen. Primero, se va a la zona del expositor a elegir lo que vamos a comer y las cantidades, se pesan y se pagan. También el exquisito pan, en una hogaza crujiente. A continuación, se va al bar a recoger la bebida , la pagamos y nos dirigimos a la mesa asignada, en el propio tiquet de turno del expositor. Poco a poco, irán saliendo los platos calientes y fríos, escogidos. El postre, también se elige y se paga en el propio expositor de postres. El café, no me fijé si disponen de cafetera. Nosotros elegimos, un enorme y rico buey de unos 880 grs, unas almejas exquisitas en salsa verde, unas estupendas vieiras pequeñas a la plancha, unas riquísimas rabas, y unos chipirones increíbles en su salsa negra . Para el que no comía marisco, unas ricas croquetas de jamón. De bebidas, una botella de Albariño Lolo (16,50€) , una Coca-Cola y una botella de 1,5 litros de agua. De postre, una sabrosa tarta de queso, con base de galleta y almendras. Más que a gusto, el pagar unos 136€, entre 4. Una experiencia peculiar en esta increíble marisquería de Urrunaga. Para recomendar y repetir, con los ojos cerrados.
