A Satisfying Curry Fix
We recently dined at Taj Mahal Tandoori in Lorca and enjoyed a pleasant meal. The food was good overall, although portions for some dishes were smaller than anticipated - except for the biryani, which was generously sized. However, the accompanying vegetable curry was disappointingly tiny.
We appreciated the waiter's excellent English and the availability of an English menu, making ordering a breeze. Our drinks, including Cokes, red wine and non-alcoholic beer, were enjoyable.
Despite the portion sizes, we left with full bellies, thanks in part to the delicious sides. We sampled a variety of dishes, including poppadoms, onion bhajis, peshwari naan, special naan, plain and mushroom rice, chicken tikka masala, chicken pasanda, chicken korma, and the chicken biryani (there were four dining). While the flavours weren't the most intense we've ever experienced, they were certainly satisfying enough for a night out.
The prices were reasonable, adding to the overall positive experience.
As chefs ourselves, we have high standards when it comes to dining out. While Taj Mahal Tandoori may not reach the "fantastic" category, it certainly offers a solid meal at a fair price. We will definitely return. A good choice for a tasty Indian meal in Lorca, especially if you're looking for a place with English-speaking staff and...
Read moreWe went there with a couple of local friends for dinner last night. They said the food at this restaurant was good. They are not Indians, however, we are Indians and have eaten In Indian restaurants in the U.K. , Canada, USA, South East Asia and India so we feel we know what good Indian food tastes like. The Jalfrezi chicken curry I ordered was very disappointing. The chicken was tough and the sauce was anything but tasty. My wife ordered a vegetarian curry that again was very bland and the daal she ordered was unsurprisingly tasteless. I tried a piece of lamb from one of our friends dishes and it was really well done and tough. In order not to embarrass our friends, we chose not to complain but have no intention of going there again. We should also mention that the portions were quite small and the dishes were definitely over priced. We had dessert at the pizzeria next doors and the desserts were excellent. We look forward to having dinner at...
Read moreAn absolutely wonderful Indian dining experience, in the very south of Spain. We'd had a long day, travelling down from Madrid, and this place was just what we needed. To be honest, I'd researched the restaurant in advance, knowing that we'd be arriving in Lorca in the evening. We'd been looking forward to this all day, and weren't disappointed. The food was great, the portions were filling, and the service was first rate. The menu was all in Spanish, and to be honest is easy to decipher if you're English, but the extremely helpful waiter, who's English was superb, was on hand if we got into difficulty. All in all, a superb dining experience, and I've no doubt that...
