My husband and I and our 8 year old twins were in Malaga for a week. Went to this chiringuito based on location and reviews. We got there around 1:30 and there were a couple of tables already taken but most were available. As soon as we walked in, one of the waiters (who shall remain unnamed), looked at us and immediately said there are no tables available and that the restaurant was full (spoiler alert, it wasn’t). I looked at my husband all confused coz, 1. I could see all these tables that are available and it dawned on me that perhaps we were not “white enough” for the waiter, 2. Our friends were meeting us there all the way from Marbella. Another waiter quickly realized what happened and ushered us inside and then onto the outdoor space. Still confused and not sure what had happened, we followed the other waiter and sat down. We ordered our food and Antonio was our waiter. To be fair, he made up for the other racist waiter who didn’t want to seat us. Antonio was funny and engaging. Anywho, our fries were still missing, so I followed up with Antonio. A few minutes later, the other racist waiter comes out with the plate and quite literally SLAMS it onto the table. At that point my blood started to boil. I called Antonio and my husband was asking me to let it ago. I said I refuse to let it go because what kind of lesson would I be teaching my children (who were sat at the table), if I make them think that people can treat them a certain way and they should be okay with it. Anywho, long story short, I asked Antonio to not let that waiter come close to us otherwise things will escalate. Moral of the story, it was a nice spot with great sangria and a side...
Read moreWandering along the coast I decided to have lunch. The service was exemplary. My waitress was attentive, warm and very pleasant. It was because of her I enjoyed my experience - but not the food. I ordered the grilled local lobster, and it was FRESH! However, by the time it came to me it was barely warm and very chewy. The accompanying potatoes appeared to be boiled and then drown in olive oil. I had mentioned to my waitress that I was celebrating my birthday and she and the rest of the waitstaff brought me a dessert and sang happy b-d to me. I was so grateful for the warmth and b-d celebration (solo traveler here). The wine and espresso martini delightful. Then cam the bill: 131 Eur!!!!! What?? The meal was NOT worth 130Eur. The experience of relaxing in a beautiful location with good drinks and a warm and inviting atmosphere was wonderful. However, for me the lobster was not. I would suggest trying something other than the very expensive lobster as other folks seem to be really...
Read moreMy first time here, I'm comparing it to other chiringuito's in Malaga. I was firstly unimpressed by the amount of fish from the BBQ options, they only had a few.. but. We had some sweet potatoes, clams and shrimp. Including pip-pil. The pil pil was one of the best tasting we had, (ever) good seasoning and the shrimp meat was nice and soft (nog over cooked). All the seafood was good but i wasn't impressed I've eaten seafood for the last couple of days straight. Had some sardines on a stick (every chiringuito has them), good, nothing more nothing less. But then came the cuttlefish (we already at 80% capacity:) First of all it came from the BBQ, secondly it tasted incredible: soft meat and nice BBQ taste. Just enough seasoning just a really pure product. I normally take the octopus leg. But this is by far the best cuttlefish I've ever had. I'm going back just for the cuttle fish it replaced my favourite: octo-feet. (It's called callama...
