Searched Google for restaurants around Montserrat and found this highly rated gem. It's a 3 km drive down a windy mountain road off the main road to Montserrat. The lovely host accommodated us at the last table they had as they were fully booked on a busy Sunday.
The set menu of 1st, 2nd course plus dessert, wine and coffee was €21.00 (€10.00 on a weekday). They also had an a la carte menu and a children's menu which was very substantial: cannelloni, sausages and roasted potatoes plus dessert for €10.00. We chose the calcots menu which was €31.50 per person (all adults at the table had to have the calcots menu unless ordering from the children's menu).
Calcots are similar to small, mild leeks and are the specialty of this region. They are grilled on hot coals until they are burnt on the outside and wrapped in newspaper. You're given a sauce to dip them in and you can eat as many as you like. The combination of the sauce and the abundance of calcots is very filling. We were also given toasted bread, tomatoes and aioli to start which was very garlicky and highly addictive.
The second course consisted of grilled sausages including black pudding, lamb, thick bacon, artichokes, haricot beans and roast potatoes. We had a bottle of wine, water, dessert and coffee as well. All of it was delicious. We even took home a doggy bag as we were so full from eating the calcots that we struggled through the second course. I definitely recommend this rustic restaurant on an empty stomach. Just be sure to book (preferrably in Spanish) especially...
Read moreMolt molt molt molt molt molt bo. Feia molt i molt de temps que no menjaba tant i tan bé. Buti negre i cansalada. Ens tornarem a veure aviat.
Read moreA restaurant that serves traditional Montserrat delicacies. We were a group of ten people, and we almost all ordered the same thing: their Menú Cargolada, which includes bread, drinks, dessert, and coffee. For the first dish, I had the snails in sauce; it was okay but a little bland for me. Then, I had a combination of grilled meats (lamb, chicken, and sausage) as my main course. The lamb was a bit tough, but the rest was fine. The staff who served us were friendly. I would recommend going here if you are...
