We are on a 5 week adventure across Europe. Came late and this was the only restauant near where we were staying so we had few options. That said, we were only interested in a couple of hot starters and it was 9pm. Upon arrival I asked the waiter if they could accommodate the 2 of us and he asked if we had a reservation. To put it in perspective, there was one other table (yes, 1) at the time as it was late. He asked if we had a reservation, I asked "is it necessary?" and he replied "well, it is preferable". I am not easily intimidated but should have recognized the snotty behavior for what it was and left right away. However, we had decided to give it a chance and since we were on a 300km cross country walk and we were tired- we gave it a chance. This proved to be one of the worst decisions of my life. Overpriced, pretentious and truly rude. I suppose they figured that we were not having much to eat and then warranted zero service as their tip would be commensuratly low. The staff proceeded to give the poorest service that we ever experienced in our 30 plus years of dining out so they ensured the low tip by ignoring us. After telling them that we were needing to get home to bed, we could not seem to get them to give us a bill for payment for almost 20 minutes. We also couldn't get eye contact or get anyone's attention to give us a bill so we could get out. The bottle of water we requested never came. Finally we calculated what was owed, paid cash for the food, and left. We left no tip as we were treated to the most ignorant service. The most significant thing was that after requesting water and not receiving it we were accosted by the waiter outside who asserted that we had forgotten to pay for the water (that we never were given!!!). I won't go into further detail of my response but the evening was a total and utter disaster. The food was starters, Appetizers were pretty uninspired and I felt like we were at Red Lobster. If you want to pay ridiculous prices for relatively mediocre food because it makes you feel important then this...
Read moreOur recent visit to this restaurant was deeply disappointing, especially considering the expectations set by its scenic location. We were a group of 8, some out-of-towners and some locals, hoping for an enjoyable and authentic dining experience, but instead, we left feeling overcharged and taken advantage of.
From the start, the pricing was outrageous. We were charged €15 for three carafes of house water, something that is typically complimentary in most establishments. The “ALMEJAS” (€34) were a particular letdown — small, dry, and completely lacking in flavor. Out of seven appetizers ordered, only the “Navajas” stood out as being worth the inflated price.
For mains, we ordered the Arroz con Carabinero and the Fideos con Rape y Almejas. The rice was dry and came with only two prawns, hardly justifying the dish’s name or cost. Even more disappointing, the fideos had no almejas at all, despite the menu’s description.
To top it all off, the server brought us “chupitos” at the end of the meal — a gesture that is traditionally on the house in most Spanish restaurants. However, we were shocked to find €6.50 per shot added to our bill. When we questioned this and asked for the owner, he refused to even come speak with us, showing a complete lack of accountability or hospitality.
In summary, this restaurant clearly prioritizes profit over quality or customer satisfaction. The beautiful views cannot make up for the poor food, deceptive pricing, and unprofessional management. I strongly advise others to look elsewhere — this place is not worth your...
