Bar Restaurant El Portal — Restaurant in Organyà

Orgaña is pretty much off the beaten track, although all of Lérida is quite rural and that's why some friends rented a 'casa rural' and invited us along - to escape the city and breathe clean air.

When we went into Orgaña, we were on a mission to buy certain things as our accommodation was in the middle of nowhere, so when I went into El Portal alone to have a drink while the others were buying cakes etc, I was very pleasantly surprised by how accommodating they were to my heavily English-accented Spanish, especially in an area not overly known for pro-Spanish sentiment.

Had a beer at the bar and chatted with a couple of locals while said cake was being bought and like many places, locals like foreigners making a linguistic effort.

The bar staff were very nice to me - even allowed me to use the bathroom before knowing I was about to order anything from the bar.

If you find yourself in Orgaña, it would be worth a visit as the people are nice - not sure about food though as we didn't go to eat, and besides, the time I spent in the bar was between lunch and dinner, so pretty quiet and chilled.

Do bear in mind that I had no indication people in the town and in the bar spoke English, but maybe that was because I was speaking to them in Spanish. It might be a consideration the take...

Érase una vez un viaje a Andorra. Donde casi al llegar nos encontramos con un pueblo frío, al igual que acogedor.

Mi mujer se encontraba mal, presincope le llaman. Con la gran suerte de encontrarnos este restaurante, parecía un oasis en medio del desierto.

El menú del día fue un manjar, el cual no pudimos acabar.

El personal que nos atendió fue maravilloso, nos envolvieron la comida sobrante como si de un regalo de Navidad se tratara. Lo comeremos esta noche pensando en aquella familia hostelera que nos atendió en este maravilloso restaurante llamado El Portal.

PD: los macarrones muy buenos, la crema...

Inédito, nunca antes me había pasado, fuimos a comer y la verdad era un poco tarde, no pasa nada, lo entendemos y nos vamos, por la tarde tras volver de andar x montañas, decidimos volver y ir temprano para que no nos pase, llegamos 20h a la terraza, le decimos de cenar, y nos dice que tiene el comedor interior lleno y la cocina a full, decimos no pasa nada pedimos cervezas y esperamos no tenemos prisa, y el camarero nos dice que ni esperando.

Al lado una mesa de mujeres mayores, las atienden y dan de cenar.

No entendemos que pasó ( sábado 25-9-21 ) o si el problema ha sido x hablar castellano....
