Restaurante la Carretera — Restaurant in Planoles

While cruising along 260 yesterday, it started raining heavily around lunchtime and this place looked inviting, so in I went for a bite and some rest. It turned out to be one of my best culinary decisions ever.

The place was full of locals, the staff were welcoming and the food looked and smelled delicious.

I ended up having a great meal at a very reasonable price, and now have a new favorite restaurant in the mountains of Catalunya. AND, the weather cleared up for the remainder of my ride to Barcelona.

Now I don't usually take pictures of my food, but I sensed that I was in for a real treat, so I wanted a fun reminder of it.

This place definitely has Bessie's seal of approval.

Part of the 3 hr drive from the coast to mountains is the pleasure of stopping for a bite to eat on the way. So we sat for 15mins before our order taken but ok, no problem the view is nice. Nothing complicated, bocadillo de tortilla frances and a lomo y queso. Staple stuff. Again, took ages to arrive. Probably the worst entrepan I've ever had. Has the chef ever heard of herbs? Two slices of bread and the most tasteless omelette I've ever paid for. I had to make the sandwich...

Nada más entrar te sientes como si estorbaras, cuando entramos no había nadie y nos trataron como si les debiéramos un favor... Pedimos dos cafés con leche y solo nos trageron uno, preguntamos si tenían bocatas ya q íbamos de camino a Andorra eran las 12 y solo hicimos una parada rápida nos trageron la carta pedimos los bocadillos y oh sorpresa nos trageron una tostá en mi caso más completa xq me había pedido un bocata de lomo queso pero mi pareja q se pidió uno de xistorra le trageron la tostá con 4 cachitos de xistorra y le cobraron 6 euros x eso... Cuando les pregunte q si el café aun no estaba preparado q si lo podía cambiar x una Coca-Cola la mujer muy déspota me dijo " ah q has pedido un café? Y yo ehh si cuando entramos pedí dos pero si no esta preparado si puedes cambiármelo x una Coca-Cola... Y ella me contestó pues no ves q no" en fin que no me sentí nada cómoda no me gustó como le hablaba a otros clientes y...
