El Xalet — Restaurant in Ponts

We decided to stop by this place given the fact that we were quite hungry driving down from Andorra. Maybe the fact that we had to wait for half an hour to get a table was a sign that we should've just kept driving. The calamari were quite underwhelming and I'm being extremely nice about it. I was about to tell the waitress how scandalous and annoying the three men next to us were, but they seemed to be locals and frequent drinkers... I mean, customers, as they kept breaking glasses, throwing cutlery, screaming and cussing, and the waiters only laughed. What an amazing evening in a restaurant that you really must visit. It is an unassuming restaurant just located off the main road entering Ponts and you could easily miss it, and missing it would be a big mistake.

The service is exquisite, I was eating with a friend from Guissona and the chef happily came across to offer suggestions for food and wine.

We had a wide selection, clams, “bravas” steak, prawn croquettes and everything was delicious. Excellently prepared and perfectly fresh.

When you visit, and you must, be sure to listen to the recommendations, you will not be sorry.

Oh, and if you order the clams (cloisses) be sure to ask for bread to soak up the sauce!

Experiencia excelente en este restaurante ubicado en las afueras de Ponts, a pie de la carretera de Calaf. El local es muy bonito y desde fuera parece un típico chalé de zona turística, de aquí su nombre. És grande, amplio y espacioso y las sillas son muy cómodas, que te hacen estar en un ambiente muy distendido y confortable. La atención del personal de sala fantástica, camareras muy amables, simpáticas y atentas en todo momento siempre con una sonrisa en la boca. La comida maravillosa, producto fresco, de calidad, muy bien tratado-sazonado. Se nota que en la cocina hay grandes profesionales que ponen amor y esmero para que los comensales salgan satisfechos con sus elaboraciones. Escogimos el menú gastronómico compuesto por 3 entrantes a compartir, Un segundo y un postre a escoger. Una mezcla de cocina tradicional y fusión a 33,00 € por comensal. Comimos como entrantes crema de calabaza con escuma de trufa, aceite especiado y bastoncillos picatostes de orégano, alcachofas en diferentes texturas salteadas con jamón ibérico y calçots con salsa holandesa y polvo de cebolla frita. De Segundo escogimos canelones de rostit con trufa y piñones y el arroz de gamba roja con allioli de cúrcuma. De postre rematamos con el flan de vainilla con nata montada casera y los buñuelos de chocolate con crema catalana y mousse de nata. Todo muy rico, delicioso. Incluso el pan es formidable, hecho por ellos, de aceitunas negras y rústico. Bravo por Albert y su equipo, un restaurante 5 estrellas!. Volveremos seguro, 100% recomendable por confortabilidad, atención y sabrosura de la comida. Si estás en Ponts y quieres comer bien, tranquilo y con una exquisita relación calidad-cantidad-precio, el xalet ha de ser tu elección. No te defraudará, te enamorará, unos cracks en todos...
