Hostal Pedraforca — Restaurant in Saldes

We stayed here for two nights at the very end of December, 2014. I had found the listing through Trip Advisor while we were elsewhere in Cataluña, and decided to chance it for the last two nights of our trip. I couldn´t have been more pleased with what we found. It is a family-run lodge tucked away in the woods outside of a tiny, tiny town partway up a valley into a spectacular range of mountains in northern Spain. It is not luxurious, but the room was very comfortable, the shower was my favorite we encountered in two weeks in Spain (hot, with great pressure and a showerhead with multiple settings), the bed was very comfortable, the windows looked out through a tree at a gorgeous view of Pedraforca mountain, it was SILENT at nighttime, the food was delicious (we ate two dinners and two breakfasts at the hotel) and there were vegetarian options available, and basically everything about it was comfortable, friendly, and cozy - in such a special location. ||For hiking information, head into Saldes to the Information Center - they were extremely helpful with helping us locate a perfect trail for our fitness, interests, and time constraints.||I called in advance to try to make a reservation for a room, but no one answered either of the phone numbers listed on their website when I called. Since I had limited access to a phone I couldn´t try again later, so instead I booked a room through Booking.com - and that worked great.||FYI - the owners told us this hostal will be closed for two months beginning January 4th, for their...

El millor de l'Hostal Pedrafora és el restaurant i l'amabilitat en el tracte familiar i proper. El dinar, boníssim. Les vistes des del menjador, impressionants, cal descobrir-ho. Aparcar és fàcil. Feia dos anys que esperàvem poder anar-hi amb un xec de Fent País, a causa de la pandèmia. L'espera ha valgut la pena.

Pel que fa a l'experiència en sí, passar la nit a la caseta de fusta, tot i que es ven com una estada familiar, no li hem acabat de trobar quina és la gràcia. No és apartament, no té res de cuina, tan sols una petita nevera. Té taula de menjador, però no té cap prestatge ni vaixella. Està pensat perquè t'agafis el dinar al restaurant. A l'hivern, tampoc es pot gaudir de la piscina, que és a l'aire lliure, i una sala inferior a la del menjador, està com a mig acabar i no hi ha jocs infantils ni cap atraccció.

Per tant, les casetes de fusta, més enllà que estan aïllades de l'edifici principal (a un 20 metres) i en conseqüència, són molt tranquil·les, tampoc no tenen res d'especial. Al que seria el menjador hi ha una petita pantalla que fa de televisió, que no es veu des dels dormitoris. El sofà llit és incòmode, no és per seure, perquè s'enfonsa. El lavabo disposa d'assecador i té banyera, però (estalvi d'aigua banda) el dipòsit d'aigua no dona com per omplir-la. L'alternativa, que és la dutxa, té el problema de les mini cortines que no tapen gaire. Evidentment, com que no és apartament, no hi ha estris de neteja.

Hi ha prou espai d'armaris, però no hi ha penjadors, ni lloc més on seure que les cadires de la taula. Per tant, no és un lloc per a fer una gran estada, és una habitació i prou. Tampoc té vistes directes al Pedraforca. Com a habitació, doncs, els matalassos són prims i incòmodes. Falta una tauleta de nit. Les lliteres són massa estretes i sense barra de seguretat al llit superior. Això sí, l'espai és molt calentet. No hem passat fred.

Vist que la caseta de fusta no va respondre a les expectatives creades (no sabem com seran les habitacions) teníem curiositat per l'esmorzar. És tipus bufet. Excel·lent. És d'una categoria d'hotel de tres estrelles, amb l'afegit que la qualitat dels productes és superior, especialment del pa i l'embotit.

Com amb el dinar, el tracte exquisit, l'espai ample, el que ajuda al relax. Hi ha un espai de terrassa molt aprofitable, amb unes vistes indescriptibles. Llàstima que hi surtin tots els fumadors. L'esmorzar, com el dinar, va ser el millor.

En resum, és un lloc per tornar a dinar. Quedant pendent de saber com seran les habitacions, descartem la caseta de fusta per fer nit. I queda pendent fer excursions pels voltants, que amb l'estada breu que hem fet no ens ha donat temps de gaire. Una passejada fins el dolmen de...
