I ordered two “giant croquetas with spicy tomato sauce” as they said in the menu, being the price for each one 2,20€ (4,40€ for the two of them) and they brought two normal croquetas with ketchup. First trap of the day.

We then ordered a “pork sandwich with green pepper” and they made a surcharge of 1,80€ without warning since they considered the sandwich to have extra costs.

And then last but not least, I ordered a “burger with egg” and when I open the bun I find out that the egg is raw, so I kindly ask the waiter to bring me a new egg since the egg is raw to what he answers that this is how the fry eggs here. I then ask again just to reassure I understood correctly “you mean you normally serve raw eggs here?” To what he answers “yes” obviously someone’s pride seemed to be slightly touched by this unborn chicken and needed to kick back with nonsense, but I did not expect a different behavior... he then brought my egg back, this time it was cooked, they got the same egg, threw it on the pan again and served me “the masterpiece” same egg, same plate, same same. It was just too beautiful to eat it so I left it untouched.

And of course, the best way to rise your bill out of the blue, the bread tray!! We order two bread based dishes, and we anyways got a bread tray on the table. We did not touch it, and after finishing they got it away and just put it on the next table. We anyways got the charge for it 0,95€ per person (1,90€) 😂 hilarious!

We were served by 4 different waiters and all of them (but the egg pride guy) were very understanding with the restaurants tricks, a woman laughed with us about the overpriced croquetas, a young man about the egg masterpiece, and another young man about the magic extra charge and the bread charge. They all know the drill, but they still try to play it on you. And today I complained, but another 50 people will get tricked today and that’s a lot of money. I will not support tourist traps like this one since I want to be proud of my country and our great gastronomy. And not show this “trickster” face to the rest of the world....

We walked in with a reservation and no one payed any attention to us, we nearly had to ask to be seated, once we were we pointed to a table we had to get our own chairs from a stack of them, we had waiters hovering over us but no waiter assigned to our table as it didn’t have a number so we had 3 or 4 different ones asking us the same questions. Once we got plates and cutlery on the table they were dropped onto the table one by one making us feel extremely uncomfortable. The food came out way too quick and was microwaved but still cold! We got charged for bread for 2 people and it came out as 3 tiny baguettes and we didn’t order it. I ordered the “microwaved” ribs dressed in barbecue sauce but didn’t look safe to eat. My girlfriend also got a frozen pizza for over €10 We ordered 3 different types of drinks as they were all horrible. As we don’t speak Spanish we asked if they could order us a taxi, when the waiter asked what looked to be a manager I heard him sigh behind me and then proceeded to write down the number for one. I was absolutely fuming and disgusted that it cost us €60. So many restaurants in La Manga that offer brilliant food and service for this kind of money....

Área Sunset is not only a restaurant with an extraordinary view, delicious food, and friendly service. It is also a amazing wedding venue, which comes with a complete wedding service. My wife and I had a phenomenal pleasant experience with setting up a our international wedding together with their professional team. Initialy our wedding was bound to happen in 2020. However, due to the pandemic it had to be postponed till late 2021. Área Sunset has aided us in all ways possible with postponement. Moreover, they made sure that our wedding would be able to happen as soon as most of the international guests were able to come. For those who could not attend the venue set up a online live-streamed of the event. Besides, this great service, their wedding decorations were out of this world, as if it was out of a magazine, it was more than Instagram-worthy! Moreover, the food and drinks were phenomenal, all the guests needs were catered for, everyone was blown away by the high quality. The music, planning, and other services upon the day of the wedding were perfectly taken care of. In short everything went amazingly smooth and was on point! Área Sunset gave us the beach wedding...

Volveremos.
