Bar Sant Francesc — Restaurant in Sant Josep de sa Talaia

Not really one to write bad reviews, but I feel like future customers will probably benefit from my experience. Having been a few times over the last few years, never really had a problem with anything. It's a typical Ibiza casual restaurant, nothing super special, but good enough to go back to on a whim. Except the other day, which has definitely sealed fate for never returning again and making sure other people are aware of what happened.

Had a look at the menu and didn't really know what I wanted, so went with a fail-safe option of the Beyond Burger (vegetarian) which I'm very very familiar with. When the burger arrived, it most definitely was not a Beyond Burger. Had a quick peak under the bun, in case I was mistaken and was not. Instead of calling the waiter to my table (as my husband and his mother were starting to eat), I politely went to the inside bar, where the owner and my waiter were standing with the chef. I asked if the burger was suppose to be the Beyond Burger, to which the lady owner and waiter said yes. I replied that it was not the Beyond Burger as I am familiar with it, and told them they were wrong. Before even checking with the chef, the lady proceeded to shout that I was wrong and that they knew what they were serving. Knowing I'm fully right, I continue to disagree and asked how they can put 'Beyond Burger' on their menu if it's not the real thing. Still shouting and telling me I'm wrong, she yells to the chef to show the box of the burgers to shut me up. The chef didn't say a word and walked into the kitchen and pulled out a box called "Green Force Burgers". Dumbfounded the lady and waiter didn't apologize and proceeded to tell me, rudely, that they didn't know anything about the change. Then got grumpy at the chef for not telling them, then the chef tried to tell me they changed the sizes of the Beyond Burgers (to be smaller - which isn't true) so they changed them. Yet they charge €13.50 for these "Beyond Burgers" which are fake. Not to mention without any sides. The price here is not the problem, as I was prepared to pay the 13.50 plus a side for what I thought I was getting. They didn't change the menu after they were notified of the FAKENESS of their menu item....they didn't even acknowledge that I was right and probably deserved an apology for THEIR mistake and THEIR rudeness. They did change my order, however, but not without it being thrown down on the table infront of me. Not once did anyone ask if everything was ok with the other meals and not even to see if we wanted more drinks after finishing our firsts.

Interested to see if they've changed their menu or burgers to be reflective of what they really have and if everything else they list on the menu is correct. Also interested to see if they're still butt hurt that someone called them out on it and they were wrong.

Never going again. What a waste of a place to eat.

Lastly you can buy those Beyond Burgers for 6€ (2 pack) at Aldi. Just to give you an idea of how much mark up they did for a fake burger that's probably half the cost and all they added was some gross bread. Will continue to buy at Aldi and...

My family were reluctant to try this place since it is quite close to the road, and doesn't look much from the outside. But it was featured in our guidebook and we were all hungry so we ventured in, sitting under the canopy to keep cool from the baking heat. We all tried their quesadillas, working through all of the vegetarian varieties, and they were absolutely delicious. We now joke about the time that we nearly missed out on one of the best lunches, and once a week now we make our own version of "San Francisco's" as a Friday night treat....
