Restaurante La Charca — Restaurant in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

The best part of eating at the restaurant is the drive to it. The surrounding mountains are spectacular.

We arrived as a large group and had called for reservations.

The restaurant is nicely decorated and the menu very full of authentic dishes from Tenerife. The restaurant was only 1/4 full, and they were unprepared for our group. The waitress was incredibly rude when we tried sit in a series of tables that were close together, and asked us to wait in the entrance. Although the restaurant was almost empty, it took 20 minutes for them to pull three tables together.

Menu is only available in Spanish, and our waiter was exceptionally friendly and patient. Although several of us at the table spoke fluent Spanish, it was difficult to interpret what the different meals were. Half of the food was acceptable, and half of the meals were simply terrible, with no sides and over salted.

We love local cuisine and usually embrace it. This restaurant is likely good for locals, but not well suited for tourists who want to experience local cuisine.

As we were waiting an eternity and saw that the place was full our expectations were high. But unfortunatelythis restaurant was a huge disappointment. As all tables were occupied we wanted to drink something untill they would call us but at the bar of the entrance the waiter looked us after our order of drinks and shouted in the kitchen: Remember I don't serve at the bar! Ok, just sit outside of the restaurant as inside there was no drinks neither air to breathe, the grill filled everything with smoke and the strong smell of burning meat. My suspects were just approved: The famous steak of the house was impossible to chew and was black and burned. The owerwhelmed service delayed a lot, all the waiters ignored us finally one came and as we mentioned a food allergy they promised to serve our food considering this condition. comida normal, ni exquisito mas bien tirando a mala la verdad para ser objetivo y no hablar por hablar, el escaldon gelatinoso con extra pero extraaaa de ajo al igual que el pollo en cantidades industriales a más de 24 horas aún lo estoy repitiendo, desde mi punto de vista y con todo lo que he comido en distintos sitios me parece un sitio EXTREMADAMENTE CARO medio pollo solo con papas fritas que parecía recalentado con freidora 6.50 a lo que le pregunte a la camarera entonces que vale un pollo 12 euros lo cual me respondió no lo sé eso es con el dueño, pero mi sorpresa fue al momento de pedir la cuenta ya me parecía raro que al sacarla miraron para mi mesa en plan cuchucheo me pareció raro pero en fin yo creo que pensarían que eramos turistas !! y no miento y si ellos miran estos que me desmientan ofrecieron una serie de pescados y SOLO EL PESCADO 15,81 EUROS SIN NADA por que las papas que me pusieron sin yo pedirlas me las cobraban a parte 2.80 algo así en total un pescado solo con papas arrugadas casi 20 euros lo cierto es que esto no estaba ni en el menú ni dieron información de precio ni nada en definitiva un doble filo por no preguntar precio, OJO con eso !! cuando hago el llamado de atención al dueño su argumento fue que era un pescado que venia sin escamas y sin tripas oleee oleee aaa que no traía ni un huesito el pescado no llego a pesar seguro ni 400 gramos el dice que compra el kg a 17 euros segun el tiket pesó 960 gr que bueno es el dueño que lo vende al precio que lo compra al final no todo fue malo las papas al decirle que pensaba que venia con el pescado y que no las pedí las quitaron de la cuenta aaaa y un helado que tampoco se pidió en el mismo Maria jimenez hay restaurantes por muchisimo menos de precio y de mejor calidad yo he ido y lo certifico hagan la prueba y comparen y muchisimo mas cerca de santa cruz vamos que por inventar me salio mal y cara la gracia. de paso en la factura no dice el nombre del pescado solo pescado fresco abría que ver que tan fresco es por que dudo que se venda mucho con ese precio o le harán a todo los mismo, la atención de los camareros cordial eso si..creo...
