Mercado de Boanerges - Restaurante — Restaurant in Santiago de Compostela

Thank you to the owner / manager and her staff for the most welcoming service. As an American I arrived an hour before they opened for dinner (I knew better but still tried). They said I could have a seat anywhere and wait with a drink if I like. So I did. A very enjoyable Rioja Spanish wine.

The restaurant is quite large with cooking stations open to diners walking by - stations for bread, grilling, baking, plate prep, etc. modern glass building with natural wood inside keeps it feeling warm and inviting. The music while I relaxed was Brooklyn Duo (cello, piano) playing hits from the 80s, 90s. Very relaxing.

I had a light dinner; grilled octopus Asturian Island style - the best Pulpo I had for the past week of being on the Camino Way in Galicia. It had the smoky aroma of a wood grill, and even grilled was very tender. Served over mashed potatoes (a nice twist on traditional boiled potatoes with paprika). Then I tried the roasted eggplant. Nothing like I had ever tasted. They must have been peeled and then cut in spears. I couldn’t discern any charring from the roasting. Very tender and with a sweet sticky alarmist like maple syrup but more subtle like honey covering them along with lemon juice perhaps? El pasado 14 de junio, celebramos mi boda (con Teo) en este maravilloso lugar, con cerca de 70 invitados. Tras un mes de aterrizaje y vuelta a la normalidad, Teo y yo no queremos dejar de compartir la experiencia tan hermosa, deliciosa y divertida que hemos tenido en Boanerges.

Lo primero, Carlos y todo el equipo de eventos han sabido plasmar la experiencia que queríamos compartir con nuestros seres queridos: una celebración diferente, relajada pero con estilo, con excelente comida gallega con producto inmejorable, en un espacio precioso que tiene tanta personalidad que no necesita absolutamente ninguna floritura para sorprender. Todos los invitados se enamoraron del lugar, y disfrutaron de pasear por los puestos para explorar el menú, ver las preparaciones, y documentarlo todo en video y foto! Estuvieron como en casa, que era exactamente lo que queríamos conseguir.

La atención de todo el equipo durante la fiesta, especialmente de Dolores (que estuvo ese día al pie del cañón pilotando el evento de principio a fin), y del maitre (cuyo nombre no recuerdo, pero que aparecía siempre anticipándose a todo), ha sido no solo muy profesional, sino también emotiva, cálida y cercana. Todos los camareros, cocineros, pulperos, el maestro jamonero… todos han sido estupendos. El banquete ha sido, sencillamente, exquisito e inolvidable, y nos ha permitido mostrar a todos nuestros amigos no gallegos por qué decimos que en Galicia se come como en ninguna parte (y los gallegos han disfrutado mucho!). Queríamos que todos comieran fenomenal, y así fue! El cuidado al producto es extremo, al detalle… hasta días antes hablamos de las mejores opciones para disfrutar del marisco de mejor calidad, y eso es un reflejo de la atención a las pequeñas cosas que hacen que un evento como este sea realmente especial.

Carlos es estupendo, un profesional increíble cuya experiencia en organizar eventos se respira apenas conocerlo, y nos ha ayudado en cada paso del camino para simplificar y facilitar la organización del fiestón que montamos en Boanerges. Nunca podremos agradecerle suficiente que nos hiciera la vida tan fácil, y que reflejase nuestra visión con tanta precisión y cariño. Su sugerencias para la comida o el entretenimiento han sido un éxito rotundo, incluyendo toda la parte de baile, barra libre y fiesta en la que todos los invitados se lo pasaron en grande.

Y decimos esto con total sinceridad: no cambiaríamos absolutamente nada de la fiesta (salvo las bajas de última hora, a quienes echamos mucho de menos!). La fiesta de nuestra boda fue todo lo que queríamos, simplemente perfecta, gracias a que todo el equipo de Boanerges abrazó nuestra idea con entusiasmo, amor, profesionalidad, y la mejor comida! We love food and I must say it would be one of the unforgetable restaurant for a while. The restaurant itself have a very tasteful modern touch with a tint of influence of Asian favours but yet remain true to it's Galician roots.the concept is unique and refreshing . Selections of food is not wide ( at the market restaurant) but quality is beyond amazing and excellent wine selections are available for reasonable price. I am very impressed with service of all the staff. The waitress are all very well presented and knows the food and wine well. We were given a warm welcome despite arriving late and pass 11pm. Once again we apologies for been late and thanks for the patience. We contacted the restaurant via Google messenger and was promptly replied to and assured us a place in no time.
