Fantastic little place. Very casual and rustic, on the main road in Tamaimo. Restaurant was recommended by a local taxi driver.
Specialty are arepas, the Latin American fried white corn cakes. These are filled with a variety of options - juicy braised beef (mechada), chicken salad, thick slices of local goats cheese (try with Guyana on top, a sweet slicable jelly - think goats cheese and cranberry, but the Latino/ Canaria version).
Tuesday/ Thursday/ Saturday pork roast with crackling available as filling for arepas or on a plate.
Really delicious cortados, cafe bonbom and barraquito.

We decided to order one portion of fries with meat (my partner is not vegetarian as me) and one portion without meat. After about 15 minutes we got two identical portions of fries with meat. The waiter apologized for the mistake and came back after about 5 minutes with a new portion of fries. The fries were cold, I'm pretty sure that I find pieces of meat inside. Read moreOur tour guide told us that many inhabitants of Tamaimo originally came from Venezuela and that they serve good arepas there. Therefore, we put extra effort to come here and try the bocadillo and arepas this place offers and it was very much worth it!
