Route 66 Tabernas — Restaurant in Tabernas

Please read to the end . This was my first post 1year ago . What has happened to Route 66 I admit we have not been here for a while but what disappointment. We have used Route 66 since it opened till covid. But now more of a campsite 160 placement . One lass trying to take food orders ,work the bar ,clean tables. GIVE HER HELP this was Friday 5 o clock more staff on2moz NEW NEW NEW NEW SO WE RETURNED TO ROUTE 66 A YEAR LATER AND WHAT A CHANGE AROUND. We had to spend a little while at ROUTE 66 because of other things so we had more time to sit and look at the changes. Food that had been ordered came out quickly and fresh . This time no-one complained or sent it back .not only the Ribs mine were excellent but Curry's, Pasta, Burgers, and more .all presented well . Desserts 🍨 also different and well proportioned . Tables cleaned as people left and all rubbish removed from sight . What a change . Later when some off the staff changed the owner brought smiles to waiting customers as well as their order. For the rest of the night all the staff had smiles on their faces and their head raised so when you wanted to order or even pay your bill you were not ignored. I will admit there are still things to change but as the owner said he knows things need doing and things are moving forward so good luck to all at ROUTE 66 . We will be back Terry...

I can only speak to my experience, which was very bad!!

Before my food was served, the table next to me started smoking INSIDE the restaurant. When I queried this I was just moved to another room?! Not only is it disgusting, I'm pretty sure that's illegal!

I had a salad to start that had 2 cold tiger prawns on it. Unfortunately the chef had not removed the sand vein so when I de-shelled one of them, prawn poo spurted all over my salad. The rest of the salad consisted of watery lettuce and a couple of bits of tomato with no dressing

I then had a burger, which was served with a few limp fries and a small serving of the previous salad. The burger patty was OK and actually cooked nicely, but the partially cooked slimy onions on top, and the incredibly sweet ketchup splodge really ruined it. A toasted bun would have been nice....

If this place was actually on route 66, nobody would...

We went on a Saturday afternoon in January. The live music was very loud so chose to sit inside and eat. We had ribs and burgers. The burgers came with chips, well fries they were cold. The meat patty was solid meat, no flavour and not juicy at all. There were a couple of limp lettuce leaves and tomato on the plate, not a salad just garnish. €11.90! The ribs took ages to arrive, huge rack, but dry and tasteless €18.90! As for the decor, yes lots of memorabilia of American cars and bikes, some pictures of film stars of the spaghetti westerns, but all in all tired looking. Outside there is a sign on the ground, that has the name of the place on it, some concrete columns looking like trees, lying in the carpark, that should be forming some kind of gate....etc

The staff were friendly and very busy, but we will definitely not...
