Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting the Montesanco Winery in Teulada. The day began with a wonderfully pleasant Spanish autumn morning that highlighted the stunning landscape our party found ourselves surrounded by.
Our group, who was celebrating a friend’s birthday, booked the full experience, which included a tour of the winery, a wine tasting, and a seasonal wine-paired menu.
We were first greeted by our guide with a glass of the local Cava. Our tour guide, Denise, gave a comprehensive and engaging overview of the winery; how it is lovingly maintained their vines and the care that goes into producing their wines. This was followed by a wine tasting outdoors, featuring five locally produced wines, including one from Montesanco itself. Each wine’s characteristics and flavours were explained in great detail by Denise, and they were exquisitely paired with a carefully selected tapas board designed to bring out each wine’s subtle notes.
We then enjoyed the seasonal wine-paired menu, which included five unique and delicious dishes and a dessert; all paired with the wines we had first encountered during the tasting. To put it bluntly, the menu was outstanding!
Afterwards, we retired to the terrace, where we ordered another bottle of Cava, admired the amazing scenery, and watched the sunset.
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience to make our friend’s birthday such a special occasion. I’d also like to thank the Montesanco team, who were so attentive and understanding when I was organising everything via email; they promptly answered all our questions and accommodated our wishes and dietary requirements.

Read moreThis winery was truly a surprise. It didn't look like much at first glance, but the tour was quite interesting. We even learned something new, despite having visited more than two dozens of wineries around the world. For example they have vines being over 144 years old and hence being able to withstand the vine fretter without being grafted onto American vine roots.
In addition, their Muscatel wine, which you will get to taste at the end of the tour, was an amazing surprise. My wife declared it to be one of the best white wines she has ever tasted. The structure and fruitiness was amazing, while still being a very dry wine. Also the finish was long and impressive. We immediately ordered a box to be shipped to our home despite the costs for shipping to places outside of Spain still being a bit expensive. But this wine is definitely worth it. Their other white wine and two red vines were also quite impressive.
Overall it was a very entertaining and tasteful afternoon and I can only recommend everyone interested in great wines to try out...
Read moreMy wine tasting experience at Montesanco in Teulada was truly exceptional. The guided tour was informative and immersive, led by a knowledgeable team that shared fascinating insights into the region’s history, winemaking processes, and the inspiring journey of Maria and Paco, the passionate couple behind Montesanco. Their personal stories added such depth to the experience, making each tasting feel connected to their vision and love for the craft.
The wines themselves were exquisite. MÓN Monastrell and MÓN Tempranillo stood out as my absolute favorites, both rich and full of character, showcasing the unique qualities of the region's terroir. The combination of the vineyard’s serene landscape, attentive staff, and perfectly curated background music created a magical setting.
For anyone passionate about wine or simply seeking a memorable experience in a stunning location, Montesanco is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back for the...
