Riad Cabrera (Fatima) is just about the best restaurant experience we have had in our 2 ½ years living in Almería. The restaurant resides at the roadside, set into the mountainside high up in the Sierra Cabrera and the setting is stunning. Set within a walled courtyard garden, complete with waterfall feature, palms and flowering shrubs, with views out across and along 2 valleys. Staff were very kind, helpful, friendly and attentive, clean and smartly dressed and English speaking amongst other languages. The food is out of this world, Moroccan styled with the occasional Andalusian twist. Portions are just the right size to suit all manner of pallet, larger or smaller appetites and we have never tasted better, anywhere. For inside dining, the place is beautifully appointed and looks almost as if the tables and chairs are dressed for a wedding reception. We have already booked a return visit for 26th December, as we dealt it to be a perfect place to dine out on Boxing day. However, that is not to say that we won't sneak back for another visit before that. (My wife always judges restaurant cleanliness by that of the toilets and the were spotless, so has her top approval). Riad Cabrera (Fatima) is now our favourite restaurant anywhere and will take a truck load of beating. (My Daughter and Son-in-Law visited with us whilst on holiday here and both also said it was the best meal/restaurant they had ever had the privilege of (it should be noted that, they only eat Halal meat and although predominantly Moroccan, the meat is not Halal but, there are plenty of fish or vegetarian options and this did not spoil their experience)). No small praise from us, they deserve a round of applause and very worthy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+++++. Please do visit if you...
Read moreWe have been to this restaurant a few times and everything was very good. However, on Sunday 29th September 2024 at 2pm, we had booked a table for four. It was an utter disappointment. Staffing was obviously an issue with only two waiting staff. Totally untrained didn't have a clue what they were doing. We were left 45 minutes without taking our order. Eventually food arrived for two of us and no explanation was provided of the tasting menu. The other two guests waited another 30 minutes for there food. One plate of food was inedible, the potatoes had hard lumps and I was unable to mash or cut them with a knife. The duck was dry and unappetising. We asked for more drinks. We waited 30 mins for these. Then we waited for two desserts which came with the tasting menu. Another gap of time. I asked to speak to the manager but she was not interested. Just said no staff! Like that was not her problem. We had asked for the bill from the barman and two waiting staff. Nothing arrived and we had waited in general for everything so we decided to leave money on the table. I refused to pay for the duck main meal as it was so bad. We won't be going back. Such a shame as we absolutely love the...
Read moreA lovely place and setting, the food was good, but really small portions considering the cost. My wife had a fillet steak sat on a potato gratin, no vegetables or salad offered as a side dish! We were the 1st people there that evening and my wife even let them know we had arrived, yet we weren’t the 1st table served (regulars obviously come 1st). The food flavours tasted really good, but most of it was lukewarm. We ordered drinks at the beginning of the evening and wasn’t offered again! The bill was very expensive, at the time I didn’t question it as we were with parents and didn’t want to make a fuss, I should off! Remembering back to what we ordered and the cost of everything, items such as the drinks and water I’ve been really generous with, but I think we were over charged somewhere between 40 & 50 euros. It’s too late now I know, but if you’re planning a visit check your bill! It’s a shame as we had been recommended to visit and eat there by several people. Overall it was average food and way to expensive with below average service, unless...
