It's a tough one to rate. I have no complaints regarding the atmosphere or service, but the food was outright bad considering the price (44€+ for a 2-portion Paella, depending which type you order). In my opinion this place isn't worth visiting... at least not if you've never tasted Paella before and this is where you want to try it for the first time. Yes, the surrounding port area is nice, and the route down the hill is exciting, but when it comes to food you'll either be disappointed or get a false impression of what it should taste like.
There's a lot of other positive reviews, so you can ask yourself what this dude with a non-Spanish sounding name is on about and whether his opinion has any merit, but I can assure you that no real Valenciano (or Valenciana) would consider that Paella good. Why? No "socarrat". The rice served in paella (the large pan) should be crispy, slightly burned and stuck to the pan. In a properly made dish you need to scrape that thing off the pan surface with a spoon and it's the most tasty part of it. In order to achieve that, the rice layer needs to be thin. The thinner the better. That's why the pan has to be so large... Our dish was served in the proper pan, but the rice layer was THICK as hell. The waitress after bringing the meal simply mixed it up in front of us like it was risotto and she put it in our plates herself. That's when we knew "the Valencian Paella" was going to be a disappointing experience even before tasting it.
Now, if that was 15€ Paella served in some fast-food bar or at the market I wouldn't care to write this essay, but the place looks and costs like a proper restaurant so you expect to get served authentic food. Unfortunately it's a tourist...

You drive from Valldemossa over the top of the mountain and are greeted with an incredible view of the port and sea, however you can't really appreciate it as you have to negotiate the nerve-racking drive down the winding, multiple hairpin, single tack road in to the village.
We booked for 7:30 and arrived art 7:15 pm and got seated straight away at our table outside overlooking the little bay.
We had paella for 3 people which was enough for 5 and was delicious. My little one is really fussy so she had the children's menu which is just one dish but does have chicken nuggets, chips and a portion of spaghetti bolognese, the chicken was real chicken fillet, not the mush some places pass off as chicken.
We finished our meal just in time to watch the sunset from right outside the restaurant, and boy, what a way to finish off the evening (ignoring the hairy drive back up the mountain).
I would definitely come back to this place, but may try and get there by...
Read moreWe enjoyed a wonderful paella at Restaurant Es port de Valldemossa and it was an unforgettable experience. The prices were reasonable, and the portions were generous. Dining amidst the mountains by the seaside created an idyllic atmosphere that is hard to match. The service was impeccable, with the staff being friendly and fluent in both English and Spanish. One lady, in particular, was very conversational and made time for a pleasant chat, adding a personal touch to our meal. The food was served quickly and the paella was absolutely delicious, with the seafood tasting incredibly fresh. Despite the large portion sizes, the quality of the food never wavered. The staff were attentive, regularly checking on us without being intrusive, ensuring our dining experience was perfect. Restaurant Es port de Valldemossa is truly worth the drive down to Port de Valldemossa. The combination of excellent food, outstanding service, and breathtaking scenery makes it a must-visit.
