Polly and I visited on a quiet Saturday night late in October.||We've been coming to the area for a long time and concentrated our dining efforts out towards Mojácar and surrounding area but thought that we would spread our wings a little and visit Vera.||The restaurant only opens at 9pm and we made a reservation by telephone. We needn't have because at 10pm there was just 3 couples and 5 staff in a very big restaurant indeed. Outside on the the terrace it seemed like the whole of Vera had turned up to enjoy tapas in the fresh air however. Noted for our next visit.||Our waitress was very attentive and gave great advice on the menu. For philistines such as Polly and I English menus are available. The menu is wide and varied with a wide choice of meat/fish/pasta. We chose Iberian Ham & Melon as a shared starter followed by Wild Boar and local fish for our mains. The food was fantastic! Well presented, perfectly prepared and tasting freshly caught and cooked!||To summarise. The food was of the best quantity we have eaten in Spain outside of Madrid. The service too was of a very high standard. The atmosphere in the restaurant was what let it down a little from our point of view. 9pm seems late to open and perhaps lots of tourists are put off by that. We almost were. We will return but for tapas next time on the terrace and we'll take stock of how the restaurant is fairing on that occasion before...

Read moreNot a 4 star category level hotel - but very good for the price. The 4 stars I award here are not for the category (it's more of a 3 stars hotel/B&B) but for the price/quality ratio.
The rooms are a outdated and you can hear everything that goes on in the corridors, but they're also spotlessly clean, the mattresses are comfortable, the staff was helpful and the price was low (we paid 110€ for a double room for two nights).
They have working free Wi-Fi, and a great tapas bar that also does a good cheap breakfast, Spanish style: don't expect breakfast tea, baked beans and bacon here but rather a good café con leche and toasts with jam and butter, or serrano ham, or tuna.
Additionally, the wedding we were attending was taking place in the venue they have as part of the hotel, so it couldn't have been more convenient. Can't say we'll come back since I don't think we'll have a reason to make the trip, but I would stay there again...
