Klova i Kava Restaurant — Restaurant in Viladamat

Update for 2025 - I reviewed this restaurant in 2023, as well last year, as a “newcomer” to L’Escala’s large restaurant list. No longer a “newcomer”, Klova I Kava has established itself as one of the top restaurants in or close to L’Escala. I’m delighted to say that it remains absolutely brilliant! We tried the ribs, chilli chicken salad, pumpkin soup and the beef dish - all were superb. While not advertised as such, I would describe it as Catalan tapas fused with oriental and French influences. There are a gazillion good tapas bars to choose from in and around L’Escala, all very good….but also very samey. If you want extraordinary tapas to remember, Klova I Kava is pushing to be top of the pile!

This restaurant doesn’t boast views over the sea, as some L’Escala restaurants do, but the stunning food more than compensates for the lack of view. Do not miss the opportunity to be bowled over by this restaurant’s...

We visited on 22 July and both had the tasting menu. It was amazing from start to finish. The menu design, quality, creativity, and overall service were of a very high standard. The food was delicious and provided a taste and texture sensation normally expected of a Michelin graded restaurant with at least 1 star. Nuria is a wonderful host and she was caring and attentive throughout.

It’s hard to pick a favourite dish as so many had unique characteristics that made them stand out. For me the ceviche was superb and the “pizza” was wonderfully layered with so many flavours. The salmon, scallop, rice, and cheeks all stand out but that’s very unfair to the other dishes that were equally excellent.

Thoroughly recommended and we will return!

Service was exemplary and the food was amazing, a dining experience that didn’t disappoint in any way.
