The food was good but not the rice stew, the stock was bland and seafood overcooked. Frankly we felt like 2nd class citizens. I get that catalans are wrapped up in wave of extreme nationalism and anti tourist sentiment but get a reality check. Being of Scottish decent I get it but it was very much a two class system. The waiters seemed to team around the locals and ignore us as more of an annoyance than paying patrons. Id avoid this restaurant unless your catalan as its what they clearly want. Our waiter was present enough but the waitress was horrific, appeared angry and made point of speeaking catalan at all times, luckily i speak french and Castellano so managed , send her to wales and see how manages! In any case I had to get up several times just get basic sevice. You should proud to share your culture not arrogant and ultra nationalist especially with an island that 4 nationalities and languages living in...
Read moreIf you are looking for excellent Catalan cuisine with an original touch then Can Boix is the place to go. Frankly this is the best meal I have had in ages. For a starter I had the smoked sardine. This was beautifully presented on a bed of sliced pear tomatoes, with confit of sun dried tomatoes, tomato preserve and walnuts. A brilliant combination. I followed up with chicken gently stewed with dark ceps. They managed to really bring out the full flavour of the wild mushrooms. Delicious. For dessert I had the honey ice-cream. Again, excellent with a full honey flavour but at the same time, not over sweet. All this with a large glass of wine. And at a very reasonable price. I congratulated the lady in charge of the restaurant and she was obviously very pleased. These people are making a big effort and they are getting it right. It is not surprising that you have to book up in advance. Well...

Highly recommend the rabo de toro, which was fall-off-the-bone tender and full of rich flavor. The rice of the day was perfectly balanced and satisfying, and the piruleta de butifarra dulce were a delicious surprise—smoky, fresh, and beautifully seasoned.
The service was amazing—genuinely warm, attentive, and professional. You feel like a welcomed guest from the moment you arrive.
